Very helpful man at Reception. Went out of his way. Gave us a good recommendation for a restaurant and even gave us fruit for our journey when we realised we didn't have time to go to the grocery shop. Generally comfortable hotel in good location.

Cannot recommend hotel highly enough as solo bike packer. I could leave bike in a safe place. It’s a classic old hotel with steep steps etc. Small room and wc shared, hence low in facilities. And this was reflected in price making it excellent value for money. Everything was clean and the location was excellent, just off from the Arena in the old town. And the host was truly excellent and really helpful with suggestions where to visit, eat etc. Ten out of ten.

With arguably the most impressive Roman heritage outside Rome, Nîmes is truly a sight to behold. Its most awe-inspiring structure is the virtually intact Roman amphitheatre. The gladiators are long gone, but a matador statue outside gives an idea of its current use, which is most celebrated during the annual Feria.
Another amazing Roman monument is the Maison Carrée, a colonnaded temple. The Temple of Diana is less well preserved, but still maintains some of its arched roof and interior details. The peaceful, surrounding Fontaine Gardens cover the grounds of the former Roman baths and still contain elegant water features.
Also water-related is the incredible Pont du Gard, a triple-arched Roman aqueduct across a river north-east of Nîmes. Other Roman remains include the Tour Magne, and 2 gates that allowed access through the city walls.
The Nîmes Archaeological Museum in the former Jesuit college provides background to this history and also houses the Warrior of Grezan, a pre-Roman statue. Another museum houses a fine art collection, and the simple cathedral is also worth visiting.
In addition to plenty of restaurants and bars, Nîmes has a good range of accommodation. Booking.com’s options include luxury hotels by Parc Expo Nimes, and cheap apartments near the train station, all easily accessible from Nîmes-Alès-Camargue-Cévennes Airport.

So many historical attractions to visit, all within easy walking distance from the Royal Hotel. Public Transport was plentiful as was the bars, restaurants and cafés. Favourite place we visited was the Arena, we also enjoyed a visit to the Roman Aqueduct, a 30 minute drive away. Everything else, we walked to. A really good variety of restaurants serving very reasonably priced meals, plus our hotel had a restaurant. Nowhere to avoid in our opinion, everyone we met was happy, helpful and kind. We would happily visit Nimes again in the future and recommend the city.

Full of Roman history, monuments in Nimes are within a walkable distance. Worth buying the Discovery pass which gets you into the amphitheatre, Roman museum, Maisonette Carree and Tour Magne. The pass can be bought from whichever site you first visit.
Also visit the Jardins de la Fontaine. The park is extensive and very impressive and you can see the natural spring that used to be the water source. We found the Castellum where the Romans brought the water supply into Nimes via the Point du Gard. From a central chamber the water was fed out to areas in Nimes through lead pipes. It's amazing to still see where the outlets for the pipes were.
From the bus station in Nimes we went on bus number 121 to Pont du Gard. This is one trip that's a must!! We got off at Vers Pont du Gard. The bus stop names are well displayed on the bus well in advance of the stop. From there was about a 10 minute walk to the visitor centre and another 10 to the aqueduct. There is a cinema and museum in the visitor centre. The museum was quite interesting but the film in the cinema seemed a bit pointless.
We also took the 130 bus to Arles. We bought a Liberty pass that got us into 4 monuments and 1 museum. We did the amphitheatre and the theatre, where we sat with our picnic lunch. The cryptoportiques, where you get to wander in the underground cellars, was more extensive than we had thought it would be. We decided on the Alyscamps for our 4th monument visit. Tombs of Roman and Christians lined the avenue leading out of Arles. Would have liked some more information on what some of the inscriptions could have been.
In Nimes visit Les Halles. This indoor food market has a superb display of produce and even if you are not buying, is well worth the visit.

Nimes is great for a few days; enough museums and Roman history to keep anyone amused for a couple of days (including children) - the town itself is relatively small but has good connections by bus and train to other areas worth exploring. The Tourist Information will provide advice on how to get there.
A combined ticket for the Roman remains and the museum is great value - especially if you engage with the audio guides.

A very clean well presented city , easy to walk around when in the old quarters. Good for shopping , eating and historical places . We visited Le Maison Carree . The arena , the Jardins de la Fontaine. On a triple combined ticket purchased on line . A very pleasant stay
Great small hotel run by a very nice English couple. I liked the little balcony overlooking the street where you can sit and have a coffee /glass of wine. I liked the old fashioned wooden furniture and prefer this to some of the modern, less substantial offerings in many similarly priced hotels. I had the express breakfast which was good value if you don't want a lot to eat. There is a tray in the room with a kettle, tea/ coffee etc. Easy to explore Nimes from here with the Arena a few minutes walk.
The studio is compact but nicely designed and decorated It’s convenient to the Nimes train station and about a 5-6 minute walk to the Arenes and other sites. The large patio is great. The staff is wonderful — Thierry went out of his way to help us, meeting us at the apartment for a personal check-in and then after check out holding our luggage while we solved a problem our rental car. He couldn’t have been more understanding and kind. Free onsite parking is a plus if you’re traveling by car.
A fabulous, historical hotel in the centre of Nîmes, within walking distance of all the main Roman sites. The little side streets are full of cafés and restaurants and it’s a lovely area with a great vibe. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the room was beautiful - very large and luxurious. We requested a massage in the spa area and they were quick to arrange it. The Michelin starred restaurant, Rouge, in the hotel is amazing and we really enjoyed the tasting menu there.
The location of the hotel is right behind the main station in Nîmes so it was perfect. Nîmes Town centre is quite small so you can walk pretty much everywhere. Breakfast was good with cold meats, bread, toast, croissants, fruit, pancakes, and a fresh orange juice machine. The pictures of the rooms on the TripAdvisor site are exactly the same in reality so no surprises :) Overall you know what you are getting with ibis hotels and I have never been disappointed.
An exceptional place to stay. The hosts are friendly and speak English so that was good for us. They had lots of suggestions about what to visit and how to get there. Breakfast was fabulous with a good selection of pretty much everything, including fresh pastries. We arrived much later than we expected, and the hosts texted us the door code, so we could let ourselves in, which we appreciated. Easy walk from the train station to the hotel.
Fantastic 17th century town house, great location and very friendly staff- nothing was too much trouble
Breakfast was fair to good, enough to get going to see the sights of Nimes and surrounding areas
Off site parking was 3 mins away at a very reasonable 12E for 24 hrs
Fast food available directly opposite the hotel with a good supermarket opposite the car park
This was our last stay after three weeks in Germany and France, so we were traveling heavier that normal. The owner was extremely helpful and polite - even helping us with our oversized/heavy bags up and down the stairs and and assisting us to the train station on our last day. Bed was extremely comfortable. Hot tub was Great and large enough for two :-)
A 5-star crash pad! Small efficiency apartment suitable for 2 (close) adults with coffee(!), fridge, stovetop, washer and dryer, TV, internet and on-steeet parking. Ten-minute walk to city center. Ideal for adult traveler/s wanting to explore Nimes. The proprietor is excellent with his communication and attentive to his guests without being intrusive.
Great location, 3min from the Nîmes Arena for concerts.
spacious room with big bathroom. Large comfy bed.
Helpful staff

Well-situated, well-managed hotel just off Nimes Main Street, offers good and reasonably priced accommodations. The room was functional, clean and adequate. The staff was pleasantly courteous, attentive and cooperative.
Very stylish hotel 5 min walk to the city centre. The location is perfect. Parking garage is next to the hotel. Good French breakfast. Good wi-fi. Spacious room (as for French hotel standards). Very friendly staff.
I liked everything about this hotel. It was fabulous, as expected. Class from arrival til departure. 2 nights rounding off 10 day trip to Nimes and Montpellier. It is 5 star hotel for a reason.
Nice hotel in the middle of the centrum of Nimes.
Staff is very friendlly.
The rooms are nice and clean. the doublebed is nice and soft but a little small.
The shower is very good.

Stunning hotel in the heart of the Nimes, loved the location and our beautiful room with its fabulous outlook over the courtyard and very pretty french streets below.
