I arrived early and my room wasn't ready - so the lovely lady on reception suggested that I use the spa. As I had been walking the Camino - this was a real treat especially as I had it to myself.

This was my absolute favourite place to stay on the Camino and my favourite meal. The albergue is comfortable, friendly and peaceful. I highly recommend So Por Hoje.

The city is interesting, particularly in the old quarter around the cathedral and Gaudi building. There are several very good value hotels in the centre of the city and many restaurants which tend to be busy.

Astorga is a lovely town with plenty to see for a weekend stay. Main attraction is the Antonio Gaudi-designed Bishop's Palace (now a museum), a sort of Sleeping Beauty castle designed as a residence for the bishop of the cathedral next door. Secondly, the architecture and buildings all around town -- you can walk for hours and it's even large enough to get lost in, so bring your phone. The cathedral is sadly not very worthwhile -- drab, disorganized, you can go in but you won't stay long. Tip: Almost all shops are closed Sunday, except for the moust touristic, so do your shopping on Saturday.

The old town center was great--an example for the rest of the world! The whole town seemed to come out in the afternoons and evenings to eat, drink, socialize and people watch. It is a model of good urban design fostering community. All pedestrian of course! The people were very friendly to the peregrinos (like me) passing through on their way to Santiago.

Interesting old town with history, character and a great stop on The Camino de Santiago walk which has given a new lease of life to Astorga. The cuisine is another attraction and one hopes the improved economy will continue ... with its abnormally large cathedral and the Gaudi palace, charming town hall, plus the eccentric Paneiro poet family dwelling all add interest and
Nice hotel, located close to the center. My room had a view to the Gaudi house. Very friendly staff that helps with hte garage. Great restaurant for dinner in the hotel.
Thankfully the hotel offers a garage, with medium-difficult entrance into the garagr and maximum-difficult space for steering into the parking space (and out of the garage when leaving) - I was sweating but the staff helped me with signs until the car was out on the street.
The hotel is located right in the old town, in walking distance from all sights of beautiful Astorga 🤩.
Lots of nice restaurants and bars nearby.
Super friendly and professional staff.
Very good breakfast (except for the dry scrambled eggs but that’s ok) and VERY IMPORTANT for lactose intolerant travelers: oat and other vegan milks, not easy to find in Spain 🙏🏻
Fabulous views over the valley from the terrace
The apartment was nicely decorated, lot of natural light, comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms. It’s 1 min away from the main square and you can park your car on the private parking of the Hotel in charge of the apartments, same place where keys are picked up. Check in experience was super nice, thanks Jenni
My wife and I were very pleased with our stay at El Descanso de Wendy. The room was very nice, the bathroom was spacious and the patio was spectacular. We sat outside as twilight fell and enjoyed chocolates and pastries above the rooftops of Astorga. Great breakfast. Great bed. Quiet.
Very large, well appointed apartment in the heart of Astorga. We stayed here during our Camino journey, as a bit of luxury on my birthday. It was spotlessly clean, beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked to make a meal. Only wish we could have stayed longer!
Location for walking the Camino de Santiago, good price for a solo Pilgrim who prefers a private room and bath. Very clean room and comfortable bed!
There is a restaurant next to the hotel and the food was excellent but they don’t start serving dinner until 7 ish. .
A definite 10/10.
One of the nicest and unique places I’ve stayed in. Exceptionally comfortable, tastefully furnished, access to tea and coffee making facilities. a beautiful boutique hotel, wonderful service and delicious breakfast. I wanted to stay longer.
Amazing accommodation and beautiful town. The hostess was very helpful and super friendly. The accommodation was out of the hustle and bustle of the plaza but just around the corner from the plaza. When in Astorga again, I'll definitely book with her again!
The room is big , clean and comfortable💯.
The place is so good that we can see the castle clearly🌈.
The owner is so nice that telling anything in detail🙏.
If I visit Astorga again, I wish I can still book here😍.
Wonderful hotel directly opposite Gaudi Palace. Great restaurant and bar. Room was excellent and bed was very comfortable. Staff were very helpful and professional. Good value for money. Breakfast was also good.
beautiful modern hotel. first rate room. Jenny on reception was amazing and helped sort out few issues as I have little Spanish. I noticed she was also helping another guest later on. how lovely.
This is an unusual hotel, compared to others that I stayed in along the Camino. It has the look of almost like a museum - with sitting rooms with elegant furniture and a charming outdoor patio.
Very centrally located on the Camino. Had a fabulous dinner located right in hotel. Warm welcoming staff. Reception spoke English well. Clean comfortable room. Highly recommend
The receptionist, Nule, was exceptional. She was so pleasant and efficient- best reception we ever had in Spain. Thank you Nule! (Not sure if I have spelled her name correctly)
