What is not to love? It was our second visit. The location is amazing, next to the national park, so there are langurs, giant squirrels, woodpeckers, owls, macaques that you can see from your balcony (if you patient).
The staff is amazing too. Great food options and a pleasant pool.

Wonderful welcome, great location with outstanding facilities and extremely helpful staff. This is the best hotel we have stayed anywhere in India for comfort, facilities, food and friendly staff who go out of their way to make our stay perfect. They organised some very good trips for us . The main attraction is the national park, where there are a lot of options for more or less demanding activities from a gentle boat trip to a two-day hike through the jungle. The rangers are brilliant. in town there are restaurants ranging from cheap to high-end, elegant handicraft shops, elephant parks, ayurvedic massage places - whatever you fancy, really. The weather is benign, as it's quite elevated. Transport connections (by bus) are pretty good from the central bus station. There are also western-style cafes where you can hang out and read; Wildernest is green and peaceful, while Chrissie's even has cappuccino!

It's a calm and serene destination, not like other hill stations.
I am a regular at Grandma's kitchen. It's a simple place nothing fancy but great local food. Kumily / Thekkady is not a huge place so getting around is easy. It's a cozy little town to chill if you don't want to run around sightseeing

Thekkady can be explored in two to three days. Enjoy nature walk but sighing of animals is very rare. There are huge trees which are appx 500 years old.
Travelers can enjoy local cuisine and elephant ride. There is opportunity to watch Kalaripayattu ( martial art) and Kathakali performance.

Absolutely stands as a demonstration for the saying “God’s own country”. Serene and bountiful of nature and some good species of wild life. The Thekkady boat trip is a ‘never-miss’ activity and the early morning off-roading trip in Mahindra Commander SUV 🚙 is phenomenal. Great place for a vacation with family and friends. One of the treasures ie the Periyar Tiger Reserve Forest. Don’t miss. I just crossed off one number in my bucket list. But beware of scammers. They are all over there.
The property is conveniently located on a hill surrounded by lush vegetation, yet the busy streets of Thekkady are a few minutes away. The view from the balconies and rooftop is absolutely stunning. The rooftop is a perfect place to chill and relax while looking at the forest.
The hosts are an incredibly friendly and helpful family. They went out of their way to arrange activities for us. They also provide breakfast and laundry services. I truly hope to come back and meet them again!
I absolutely recommend this accommodation!
The owner is helpful and most importantly she has good communication in english. She has a restaurant under the homestay so you don't have to think where to go to eat and have bf and the location is just 5mins by bike or car or tuktuk away from the periyar nation park. The rooms were very clean, hot water, towels and a balcony. Worth the money in my opinion. Shops and eateries are a small walk away, cooking class 5 mins away, bar 10 mins away. I think if you are staying in Thekkady, this is the place.
Actually nothing! It is sold as a 5 star hotel but it is a 3 star one. Very old. Very dark inside. Not clean. Hearing all what the people talk and do in the next room. Absolutely no comfort.
Why is it sold as a 5 star hotel??? I was really upset. The electric wires ot the lamps were apparent.. AC was very noisy and terrible so I closed it. Inside the cupboard came a humidity smell...really that hotel should be totally renovated to become a 5 star one!!!
We were welcomed by Mr Philp and Mrs Mary on our 3 days trip to Thekkady .
His home is a heavenly abode sitting in tranquil amidst the cardamom hills , strategically located you can visit Munnar and Vagamon within 100 kms from the property , the breakfasts were amazing , delicious and healthy , the rooms were cozy and felt like a second home . This is the best place to be and we will visit soon , best hosts one can have !!
I recently stayed at a homestay in Thekkady, and it was a truly peaceful retreat. Surrounded by nature's beauty, this homestay offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cozy accommodations and warm hospitality made our stay memorable. Whether you're looking to explore the wildlife or simply unwind in a tranquil setting, this homestay is the perfect choice for a relaxing getaway.
Extraordinary experience in one of the nicest hotels I have ever been. An example in sustainability coupled with luxury. From the organic garden, the water saving plant, the 50 mile radius of all of the food used, and the beauty of the huge place & numerous trees, and all the little things that remind us how precious our earth is. Thank you
The property was clean, well located and maintained. The staff was very helpful with all the indications on how to arrive at Thekkady and to the hostel. It has a wide range of budget friendly options with reasonable prices. There were mosquito nets on the window and they also helped me with the booking of the tickets for the National Park
It is a place with a cool atmosphere. It is the best hotel in Thekkady that is very helpful and enjoyable for couples and families. The owner, manager and other staff are very friendly. Foods and services are very good. Overall it was a good experience from Periyar woods😍

Both are so caring and sweet. We had wonderful night stay.
Home and locality is soothing. Don't hesitate to book this place if you need to experience homely stay.
Hotel is fine but this is best way to experience home stay in kerala.
The location was excellent - easy to get to Thekkady by tuk tuk. George’s Mum cooks wonderful Keralan food and not expensive. The view from our balcony was superb especially in the afternoon sun.
Great food straight up. Nice big rooms. Best thing was the staff were excellent and very friendly. Great experience at the property . Truly the best place to stay at in Thekkady.
The view from the hotel is beautiful. surrounded by lush green forest. The hotel is good for a big group.
The caretaker Mr.Suraj is very helpful and efficient.
