Laid-back Suburban Beach Resort
Cascais is a small city located on the outskirts of Lisbon. Once a fishing village and defence outpost, the royalty transformed it into a stylish summer resort. Mixing beautiful beaches, elegant mansions, imposing fortifications, and a wide variety of hotels, Cascais is a great option for every season.
King Luís II used the city as his summer residence from 1870 to 1908, attracting other celebrities, and changing the destiny of the tranquil village forever. Modern roads and railway lines linking to Lisbon and Sintra were built, as well as a casino and other facilities. Some of the best hotels and 5-star resorts in Cascais date back to these times.
Nowadays, the town is a cosmopolitan beach retreat along the Estoril Coast, where people from Lisbon and other Portugal cities come for a day or weekend escapade. Many foreign tourists prefer its more relaxed hotels over the sometimes hectic Lisbon atmosphere.

I am very disappointed.
I am very disappointed. The apartment is nothing like the photos...old and smelly. Very low maintenance to the property. There was a mole at the bathroom and a lot of Flys at the bath and washroom. The smell was awful of some very harsh cleaning liquid mixed with mole smell. They just took a very poor condition apartment and painted everything in white but it is still old and smelly ...painted the mole as well but you could still see and smell it

I love Cascais!
I love Cascais! There are many things to do here and nearby locations too. Great restaurants, shopping, beautiful parks, nature walks, cafes, museums, outdoor markets and not far from Cascais are the palaces of Sintra and even a Moorish castle. There is a train station in Cascais with trains that go directly into Lisbon in about 25 minutes. Without hesitation i recommend a visit to this beautiful city. I think you will love it too!

was with my son's family, they live there. the wheel made a point, not far from Cabo de Roca, good choice in food that caters for most tastes. You can walk in the tranquillity of the place and it is not far from Lisboa

Cascais is a beautiful area.
Cascais is a beautiful area. Easily one of the most prettiest places we have stayed in. A beautiful beach, shops, restaurants and an array of beautiful buildings. Easy to pop on the train to Lisbon which took 40 mins and worth the few euros it cost. We visited in Nov so the weather wasn't hot but we had a lovely warm breeze plus a few showers but you expect that at that time of year.

The villa was amazingly beautiful, accomodating, tranquil and it location is beautiful. The villa had everything we needed. The host Flory was an incredible host. We will definetly stay at this Villa in Cascais again when visiting this area. We loved everything about this place and its location.

The rooms are lovely and clean. we stayed in a suite with a balcony and sea view and it was spacious and had everything we needed. We travelled as a large group and the hotel were welcoming and accommodating. We had a number of family and friends staying at the hotel as we were getting married in Portugal and the hotel staff were so lovely and even opened the indoor bar for us on the day of the wedding before guests were being collected.

The Casa Vela staff were simply wonderful to us, very friendly and helpful. We made sure to savour the mornings in the beautiful garden. The taxi service was absolutely perfect. My family loved it. Highly recommend Casa Vela to anyone and we all hope to be back there one day.

We loved the location of the apartment, as nearby were some great restaurants and beaches. It was ten minutes to walk to the beautiful cascais town centre and a short drive to Lisbon. We had everything we needed including the pool which was greatly appreciated by our two children who spent many hours in it. We would love to return one day.
