Surrounded by 860 private acres of tropical rainforest and featuring an on-site lake, a swimming pool, a sun terrace and games room, Arenal Observatory Lodge & Trails is located within the Arenal Conservation Area, only 2.7 km from the Arenal Volcano. Super friendly staff, very comforting. Excellent food, they have a daily special, which was extremely tasty both times we had it! Rooms are cozy and perfectly clean.

The lodge offers an American or vegetarian breakfast. We have stayed in many different places in La fortuna area and for one day we stayed in the tree house in Rio celeste area(limit 100$ per day). We did not want leave. This stay was by far better for a similar price. More comfy bed, clean soft towels, tasty food, nice idea of being elevated while watching birds in trees.

If you put more effort into your Spanish speaking skills than I did, I bet you'd tap into an absolute wealth of knowledge chatting with him. Breakfast in the morning was super good with great birdwatching right there! I'd definitely return, and I'd definitely recommend to a friend.

Close to La Fortuna and far enough away that you were out of the busyness. The kitchen was stocked well enough to make simple meals. King bed was comfortable. The view of Arenal Volcano was amazing when it wasn’t too cloudy. The patio was sheltered from the rain so you could still enjoy coffee outside in the morning. Property felt secure with remote control opening and closing.
