Natura Hotel Monteverde is family run business. The owners of the hotel are really helpful and take care of each guest. The contact with the owner was excellent starting prior arrival to the hotel. Hotel in Esterillos
Situated in Esterillos, 15.5 km from Hermosa Beach, Marala Hotel features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. The hotel has a hot tub and room service. This place is amazing. I booked only one night on our way from Uvita to Monteverde due to a misscalculation, and already at the reception I was feeling sorry that we were staying just one night. The welcome was so hospitable and warm, the welcome drink was the cherry on top. Our room was spacious and beautiful, stylish decor, facing the jungle as I had hoped, cause we are light sleepers. They have a lovely pool area over looking the ocean, there is also a bar and a very nice restaurant, which both close at 10pm, so there will be no noise coming to the room from there. Be sure to try the chicken dish and mango monkey margarita! All the staff were kind, attentive and smiling. I hope we can return to this place, it was so relaxing. No need to leave the property at all, but there is a small town center a few kilometers to the south with a grocery store and a few restaurants, if you want to.

The staff members were incredibly friendly and accommodating, particularly the kind-hearted front desk lady who assisted us. The hotel's restaurant was a highlight of our stay, offering an amazing dining experience. We opted for their surf and turf special, which was simply spectacular. Our compliments go to the talented chef who prepared such delectable dishes. Furthermore, our server was outstanding, delighting us with his skillfully crafted margaritas. Breakfast, which was included, proved to be equally delicious, accompanied by excellent service. Discovering this hidden gem made us immensely happy, and we only wish we could extend our stay. Hotel in Santa Teresa Beach
Situated in Santa Teresa Beach, less than 1 km from Carmen Beach, Gigi Brown Beachfront Santa Teresa features accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a shared... From the first contact with Shanell via Whatsapp, we felt connected and welcomed. She was there to show us to our villa, how to manage the safe, and ask if we needed anything at all. She has a breezy, light aura, while being very professional and caring. She was always available to help with anything we needed. Upon check-in, she warned of the crabs. Kind of funny, they would be shocking to some. The private pool would usually have crabs in it by morning and can get inside if you aren't careful, but the maintenance people always had them cleaned before we even walked outside. These adorable villas are directly on the ocean! We had white robes and slippers, clean white sheets, umbrellas to use, plenty of room to hang our clothes and still keep the room tidy. We were given towels for the bathroom and pool to use. We traveled with absorbent yoga towels to always have extra on hand. We were delighted to find there was also a half bath in addition to the double sink and standing shower beautifully clean full bathroom. The breakfast was out of this world. To begin with, the view is amazing, covered, outside with open air sides, beautiful ambiance and atmosphere no matter the time of day. Each time, we were greeted with a warm welcome, smile, and fun servers with much HEART. Jose, Gaspar, and a beautiful female served us over the course of the week. Breakfast, we were served cheese, fresh fruits, meats, fresh baked muffins or bread, with freshly made mango jam, and half cocoanut filled with butter. Fresh juice, choice of espresso or Americana cafe. Served on beautiful, stylish, glass and plate ware. BEFORE our orders. The choices are well thought of, with something for everyone. They wish to make everyone happy. They succeeded with ease. We ate dinner at the restaurant and ordered fish meals & sushi. We were able to meet the passionate chef and we were so grateful to see he also put so much heart into everything.

The Manuel Antonio park was a highlight. We particularly liked the beach. After having explored the coast from Manuel Antonio to Puntarenas, there is not much point going swimming elsewhere other than in M.A. with the exception of Jaco for the waves (surfers).
Roads are horrible, We stayed there to visit Tortuga Island for the day and planned to take ferry across to Puntarenas to stay at next hotel in Manuel Antonio Park. Isla Tortuga was beautiful but we were told by boat driver he would return to pick us up at 2 and he didn't show up, officials had to call boat company from Parquera to make arrangements for our return. We arrived back safely to our car then drove to the buy ferry tickets around 4:30pm, there was a line up. We were next to drive on ship but were told that the ship was already full, many cars lined up behind us with very disappointed people. We had to turn back and drive around to our destination It took us about 8 hours to get around to Manuel Antonio Park. I would avoid this area.People from this area just don't get it.
If you are traveling along the highway and had thought you may want to stay in Puntarenas but changed your mind as you drove by think again. The view from the highway gives the impression of a port town with no beach. But this is not the case. There is miles of beautiful beaches. Turn off the highway and go into the town.
Puntarenas is a great location from where to start many excursions - Monte Verde, Guanecaste, and the ferry trade from Puntarenas is a wonderful way to go.
Puntarenas is a very good place to go where the visitor can find good restaurants and great landscape for a city that is re-borning for the tourism.
Ojochal is a hidden gem in Puntarenas, I could say you can find there the best restaurant in Costa Rica: Citrus. French food with a local flavor by the hand of an creative chef. There are also two french patisseries in town you will certainly be amazed of. Head to Parque Nacional Ballena and enjoy a whole beach for yourself.
Puntarenas is off the beaten tourist tracks but I have returned many times over the years. A ride on the car ferry to Pacquera is inexpensive and enjoyable
I just stayed there one night to take the ferry the next morning to Paqueras, travelling around Costa Rica for a while, you realise that Puntarenas is a place of passing and not staying there. Maybe i needed to stay longer to see the town but seeing the streets, shops and bars was enough for me, after coming from total nature it's quite industrial place.
Puntarenas is very dirty city. I can't believed tourist see the trash on the street and on the beach. They say that it is ecological in Costa Rica in parks and vegetation area but why it is not cleaned in Puntarenas especially by the ferrys. Why the government do not take care of this problem? The ticos are very friendly and nice contrariais. They helped us to find the hotel.
Puntarenas could and should be a beautiful city by the sea but isn't. It is run down, dirty city with homeless people sleeping under trees, asking for money and picking thru the garbage. There is garbage and dog droppings all over the beach. It's scary walking the streets in the middle of the afternoon. We ate a couple of the restaurants but most places served the same thing.
Great location! 2 mn from the beach. Plenty of restaurants, shops, bars around. The hotel is very peaceful, decorated with taste with a nice pool and a beautiful garden. We had a big room on the first floor with garden view. The staff was very nice and helpful. Definitely a place to recommend ! It is also walking distance to the bus stop to San Jose and the bus line Puntarenas Quepos (Parc Manual Antonio) is right at the end of the street.
Puntarenas
Jasmine and her husband were absolutely wonderful. They really made me feel welcome. The apartment was spotless. Inside parking. It's not on the beach (near) and a 10 minute drive to Puntarenas, but I highly recommend staying here and using it as your base. The breakfast was delicious. Would definitely go back. Very good service and room for the price
Puntarenas
The property has all the essentials of a hotel without the price of a hotel. The place is within walking distance from the beach. We booked a tour within the property to go to Isla Tortuga, which was very good value for the price. The staff from Puntarenas Bed & Coffee are very customer oriented, helpful and friendly!
Santa Elena, Monteverde Costa Rica
They staff was very kind! The breakfast consisting of vegan pancakes and fruits was delicious. The hostel itself was cosy and had all that was needed We could book tours via the hostel and the staff helped us with busses to continue travels to San José / Puntarenas.
Everything here was first rate. Totally unexpected. In our dozens of trips to Costa Rica, we never had any desire to stay in the Puntarenas area. Due to the logistics on this trip, we found ourselves in the area. What a find! Hotel Cayuga was an oasis.
Paquera
this family owned hotel had a fantastic room for us. clean and comfortable. lots of space for our luggage and close to both the ferry to puntarenas and the carù reservation. the staff was really helpful!
The staff especially Gerardo and Andres are amazing. Best Hotel I have stayed in by far. We stayed in a resort in Puntarenas after we left and we desperately wanted to come back. Will be back for sure!
Our flight into San Jose was delayed, and we missed the Puntarenas ferry. Hotel La Punta was the perfect spot to spend the night after a long day of travel, before getting on the ferry in the morning.
Jacó
The location is top notch. Two of the most beautiful beaches in Puntarenas at walking distance. Playa Blanca is simply breathtaking. The staff is also extremely helpful and friendly.
Close to Puntarenas centre. Good breakfast in the restaurant
The evening shows and Entertainment options in general. The food was also very delicious and the pools were perfect. It was also very family and children oriented and the staff were always nice to the kids.
Villa Caletas did exceed our expectations The staff was very accommodating and friendly The beach area was very clean and beautiful We were able to enjoy seeing monkeys, toucans and scarlet macaws.
The hotel is located at the most amazing spot in Monteverde. You can go hiking a long trail right from the hotel and enjoy really beautiful sunsets at lookout or from the windows of your room. Really enjoyed my stay there.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner always excellent. Good variety of tasteful food
This lodge is amazing. We had been here many many times, even taking here our groups for birdwatching and we/they all love it. Hotel grounds are amazing, nice trails, trees, flowery bushes, river, birds, mammals and more. Restaurant is lovely at the river, personal is very kind and helpful. All waiters are awesome, Luis and Melkin are great and our favorites, but the others as well.. just don't know all of their names to mention.🤔 😉 Big thank to them for a lively little cake for my birthday!😉Food is also good with lot of vegetables and fruits🙂 Receptionists are also all very kind, Fiorella and Magaly are always helpful and smiling.. THANKS TO ALL AGAIN FOR A WONDERFUL STAY... AS ALWAYS FOR MANY MANY YEARS!
This place is incomparable. Wonderfully situated on the hill above the beach, surrounded by natural forest. There is a very familiar vibe between the guests, and the staff is doing their best. The food selection is not the greatest, but what they serve is very delicious and more than enough. You can book tours with a local guide into the forest with no transfer, just walk from the property into the jungle. There is a path down to the sea, and from there to multiple beaches in both direction.
Excellent amenities, restaurants, casino and pool
Superb resort, the bungalow was wonderful, service level exceptional and the beach one of the most beautiful we have experienced.
The environment was peaceful and felt like home. The staff was accommodating and so friendly.
