Our room had a garden view with a little balcony, where we could hear the church bells and birds chirping. The bed was very comfortable and the overall room size was spacious enough even with our luggage. The old style room key was very cool! Breakfast was delicious with warm breads, fresh fruit, cheeses, jams and more. Luk and Miro also offered made to order eggs. The presentation is beautiful. The location is excellent - a short walk to the Grote Markt straight down the street, 10min walk to Nekkerspoel train station, and bus stops just out front serving multiple routes. Mechelen itself is very walkable and pretty!

Also, very close to Het Anker Brewery and the UNESCO listed Large Beguinage. Serge the owner's creativity shone throughout the house in which we were made to feel very welcome. A fascinating layout and mixture of furniture, art and music. Wished we could have stayed longer asking questions about the property and Mechelen. An artisan breakfast fuelled us for our day on the bike!

Kurt was a fantastic host, very friendly, open and helpful. I really liked the room - size, organic bathroom accessories and the shower :) Bed was very comfortable and had a nice sleep. Got personalised breakfast with juice, bread, jam from local sources and scrambled eggs from Porta' own chickens.
