Helpful & welcoming staff. We had the option to upgrade to air conditioning for an extra $10/night. It was hot, so we took it. The staff connected us to reasonably-priced & trustworthy scooter rentals, so that was a real bonus. They also prepared a breakfast for us at short-notice when we realized we wanted to catch a ferry at a certain time, so that was appreciated. Other reviews mention "sketchy characters" around, but nobody bothered us out on the streets at all. Definitely recommended!

Very helpful, kind, friendly family. A pleasure to stay with them. Room was clean, freshly painted, comfortable bed, with fan and bathroom, lovely terrace with volcano view. All meals on their breakfast menu were delicious and cheap. I broke my arm and stayed there for 3 weeks. The family did all they could to help me. It was a short walk to town with restaurants and supermarket. They take pride in their place which is their home.Excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

On site there are cows, horses, talking parrots and a beautiful (non barking dog)😁 It truly is a magical place…I’ve been to Moyogalpa 4 times now and this is by far my favourite. I would highly recommend staying at Casa Esmeralda, I couldn’t rate it high enough! The location is perfect, it is in the centre of Moyogalpa, it takes 3 mins to walk when you get off the ferry and there is a supermarket, ATM & banks just up the road. The staff are so incredibly friendly and accommodating. I wasn’t feeling 100% and they offered to go to the pharmacy for me, they even made me a hot tea to help settle my stomach (it’s these kind of gestures that really make a place special). The food is also honestly amazing - it is the best that I have had since arriving in Nicaragua. The room was a little hot to sleep in (but I feel the heat), the fan provided is definitely adequate. The shower pressure is good and staff are constantly cleaning the property. It is great value for money!!! Thank you again everyone at Casa Esmeralda ❤️

Super friendly staff and the family that owns it that’s there on weekends. I was there cause of a motorcycle accident on the island and they were super helpful with going to pharmacy and anything I needed. Highly recommend this place. The facilities are super clean and nice common area to hang out in
