The property was very clean, beautiful and exactly what we saw on pictures. The staff was helpful and friendly. The location is great but not if you don't have scooter or other transport, it is not near the central way or beach by feet.

I was happy about to find a location next to the Mainbeach and also a cheap one :) The room was cleaned and you got everything you need. In Addition, we meet the houseowners and they were really kind and opened (family), so that they invited us to have a nice sitover with them !;)

My recent stay at Charming Dark Lodge in River was nothing short of exceptional, marking it as the best homestay experience I have ever encountered. From delicious lunches and dinners to delightful surprises and the most mouth-watering fish barbecue - probably the best meal I have had in the two months I have been in Sri Lanka. Departing was bittersweet, as we had grown attached to the unparalleled hospitality and the tranquil ambiance of our temporary home. A particularly memorable moment was celebrating my birthday during our stay. Our host went above and beyond to ensure it was an unforgettable occasion, adding a personal touch that truly made me feel special. Without a doubt, if I ever find myself in Sri Lanka again, Charming Dark Lodge will be my first choice for accommodation. Very unique place with 2-level rooftop and a cozy bar with awesome view. The room was comfortable and with a great view also. The staff is very kind and friendly, I enjoyed having a chat with them!
