The view from every window of the lodge is just breathtaking, the landscape really is incredible. It’s definitely a perfect, rural place outside of Tromsø to spot the Northern Lights on a clear night (we had two clear nights and saw them both times!). The drive took roughly 40 minutes from Tromsø and was very direct (we hired a car). Benedicte and her husband were lovely and gave us great advice/reassurance and help on getting from the main road up the driveway to the house. We had a quick tour of the house and how to use things (like the Sauna), then were left to relax and enjoy our time there, but felt very comfortable knowing we could contact Benedicte if we needed anything. The lodge itself was well-equipped and spacious, yet cosy and warm. With comfy beds, cosy chairs to watch out the window for the Aurora, a great fireplace, Netflix etc, and a lovely sauna! There’s a well-equipped convenience store in Sjursnes that we used for a grocery top-up, it was 15 minute drive away along an incredibly scenic road! And we also loved the Aurora Alps Breivikeidet husky sledging as recommended by Benedicte (5 minute drive away). Already thinking about a return trip.

Great place located about an hour away from Tromso. The house has everything you need and of course the jacuzzi and fire place are amazing to relax and (if lucky) watch the Northern lights. Good communication with the host as well! We will be back!

The Håkøya Lodge is spotlessly clean and very, very comfortable. The kitchen had everything one needs to make meals and the hosts had excellent advice and tips for everything from where to get the best groceries to where to see the Northern Lights.

it was very comfortable with everything you need! The whole lodge was very warm, clean, and was nicely built that even when direct next door neighbour was there we didn’t hear/see anything - it was perfect for us as young family for a get away and needed solitude. Shower had very good water pressure/hot water to warm up from a cold days. Kitchen had all basic gears you need to cook with. (coffee machine, kettle, microwave etc) Internet was strong that we had no problem streaming movies. The location was also amazing, it’s only 10min walk or so from the nearest bus stop which goes straight to city centre in 5min. Buses come every 30min or less, we had no trouble getting by. The lodge is sitting right near a clean mountain stream and there’s a little bridge that connects to a hiking track. Plenty of space to play with snow with kids. Not to mention the beauty of it! The staff was so nice that when we needed help with joining northern light tour or needed a taxi ride they helped so much. Our main goal was to see northern light and we managed to see it on the last night from our lodge! What a surreal beautiful experience! Overall we were very happy and we’d love to come back again! Thank you!

We enjoyed our stay extremely! The villa is equipped with everything you need for a group of friends. You can observe the northern lights from the terrace or nearby beaches. Location by the water, close to nature, beautiful and peaceful place. You can eat meals with a beautiful view of the water and mountains. Good contact, the staff responds to comments immediately: the heating plate was turned on, the bulb was replaced and the wood for the sauna was delivered on the same day. Please note that rooms Rooms 2, 3 and 4 are very small. The equipment is not luxurious, but it is very clean, the bed linen and towels are clean and fresh as they should be.

Beautiful, serene scenery, wonderful views. Really cute cabin which was superbly decorated for Christmas, even light outside the house. Well stocked with all needed equipment, even champagne glasses, night lights and blankets for a truly koselig festive period. The cabin has a unique style with the additional antique decor on walls, comfortable beds and two bathrooms. I would absolutely recommend for families and larger groups.
