The staff really go out of their way to make your stay special. The guide is knowledgeable and makes every effort to find memorable wildlife encounters. This is our second time staying here and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an immersive jungle experience in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Located in Mantanani Island, GreenHouse Lodge provides accommodation with access to a garden. The property boasts reusable plastic materials, using energy-saving lighting and conserving rainwater. The best stay I’ve had in years! 🏝️This is truly a relaxing Island experience and an opportunity for you to unwind in a secluded location. Thank you Sook Peng and Fred for helping my stay feels like home! They have arranged the transfer quite seamlessly, I got picked up from the hotel early morning to the pier and then to the island. The view is truly amazing as the lodge is right in front of the sea. They have everything you need for this Island: kayaks, snorkel masks, beach mats and coconuts (and beer which is a rare commodity in the island)! Thank you Sook Peng for the wonderful breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s wonderful to enjoy a hearty home-cooked meal by the sea. I also get to taste some delicious farm-to-table vegetables they’ve grown from their aquaponics farm ♥️ I’ve enjoyed my time on the island, there’s a dive centre 5-min walk from the lodge and it’s convenient if you’d like to join a dive or two. My room is right in front of the sea with a little garden, sun lounge area and a private entrance to the beach. You’re surrounded by nature and animals, I’ve seen cats, cows, tree frogs, big green turtles and more. Just be prepared for mosquitos at night, you can spray the room before you leave for dinner, I’ve also bought a “Deep Woods” repellent and some repellent wristbands which comes in quite handy. There’s no aircon in the room but the island breeze does help, the room is well-ventilated and there’s a fan and cooling machine in the room. Truly an amazing getaway, I must come back again!

Set atop a 100 metre hill overlooking the Kinabatangan Forest Reserve, The Last Frontier Boutique Resort is located in Bilit, and is located a 2 hour drive from the beautiful Sandakan. This is not just a ‘business’, it is a passion! Jason and Gert are sharing a piece of the rainforest to help travelers experience wildlife, insects and plants in their natural habitat. Jason and Gert have created a safe and relaxing environment for all guests to experience true nature. The cabin has wood walls and floors - simple design and furnishings, and so comfortable. There are 2 chairs on the balcony, outside of each room, to enjoy the local flora and fauna. The daily schedule is designed for 2 nights, but we wanted some additional quiet time in the jungle so stayed for 4 nights. Jason made sure that we received different meals for lunch and dinner - he really works to make all meals special! The banana pancakes with homemade caramel sauce is phenomenal! The dining room (with ceiling fans) is also a place that you can hang out - have a coffee, read, play cards, visit and/or observe your surroundings. There is always a pitcher of cold and refreshing water waiting for you. There is a terrace off the dining room (no fans) with benches and small tables - great to look out over the landscape. We went on an amazing evening boat cruise every evening (included in the package). The optional sunrise river cruise starts at 5:30 am - beautiful and quiet (additional small fee). During our cruises, our guide/captain Rodel helped us find Pygmy elephants, crocodiles, hornbills, kingfishers, Silver Leaf monkeys, Proboscis monkeys and macaque monkeys. We absolutely loved our time on the Kinabatangan River! Jason, Gert and staff are so calm, friendly and informative. A once in a lifetime experience/place to enjoy nature and learn about/observe amazing Borneo animals in the wild!

Located in Kundasang in the Sabah region, Bayu Senja Lodge provides accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. The lodge is amazing and it is location is readily and easily found within the Waze App. Signs to go to the place are easily seen so you wont get lost. Although the small stretch of roads heading to the lodge was rocky and bumpy, it was still a great experience! Location was beautiful and the view is just immaculate. Wonderful and helpful staff! Do prepare some mosquito patches for yourself if you need it. If not, you are good to go! And the parking space is limited, so plan ahead when you are renting a car to drive to this place!

Situated in Ranau in the Sabah region, D' Limbai Cottage features accommodation with free private parking. A terrace is available for guests to use at the lodge. Comfortable dining room with complete kitchen facilities. Comfortable and very clean room complete with iron, hair dryer,kettle. Stunning and wonderful view of Mount Kinabalu. Definitely will stay again. The owner/host very nice and helpful.

Located in Ranau in the Sabah region, THE CLOUD KINABALU- Chalet provides accommodation with free private parking. This chalet features a garden. everything, best healing place with affordable price for family trip,will come back again. just a caution on the road, a bit steep, if you are using auto car, then use low gear, if using manual, make sure your brake and tyre in good condition for more grip, please be more careful especially during rain, since road may get slippery. recommended place to stay

Located in Kundasang in the Sabah region, Nulu View Cabin provides accommodation with free private parking. Some units include a terrace and/or a balcony with mountain views. This place had a beautiful view of Mt. Kinabatangan and the owners were really nice.

Situated in Sandakan in the Sabah region, Kinabatangan Wildlife Lodge features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. Room was clean, comfortable bed/linens and great aircon and fan for cooling options. Food was good, portions were huge and lots of veggies and fruit for lunch/dinner. Our boat guide Irfan was amazing at spotting animals and we were lucky to see the Borneo Big 5. The ladies running the lodge are all so lovely, highly recommend their hospitality. Bring lots of bug spray for the mozzies and don’t expect WiFi in your chalet - it’s the jungle!
