Living History isn't just a place to stay. It's an experience. How many people can say they've stayed in a medieval mill with an entrance to an ancient salt mine in their bathroom? Everything about this place is magical, and every detail is steeped in history. Even the key to the front door is from the 16th century. The location can't be beat as the apartment is just off the town square where the ferry docks. Lorenzo is such a kind host. He met us in the square and gave us a wonderful tour of the apartment, sharing tidbits and stories about the history behind its walls. The floors in the apartment are heated, as well, which was greatly appreciated during our winter stay. If you're in Hallstatt for a night, don't miss out on this unique adventure!
Offering a garden, Alpen Apartement features accommodations in Hallstatt. This apartment provides free private parking, private check-in and check-out, and free Wifi.

Only one out of 7 apartments of our trip that we can't find what we like of this apartment.
Hallstatt was enchanting! My favorite places were the picturesque lakeside views and the charming market square. I dined at a cozy local restaurant by the water, indulging in delicious regional cuisine. Getting around Hallstatt was fairly easy, with its compact size perfect for exploring on foot. Next time, I'd avoid the peak tourist hours to fully savor the tranquility of this gem

One of most beautiful village in the world.
One of most beautiful village in the world. It is just 2 hours plus away from Salzburg. You can plan a day trip. You will get best scenery and it is like childhood fairy tale place. I must praise I have a good dining experience in Simple 169. The owner is so friendly and food is good. Preferable if you can spend one night with light luggage. So that you can take photo with less crowded moment and take an unforgettable 7000 year old salt mine tour plus skywalk visit.

Loved the amazing views around Hallstatt. The salt mine tour is definitely worth it. The views from above are just spectacular overlooking the mountains, town and the lake. Just strolling through the streets everything was so quaint and beautiful. A visit to the church and bone haus is a must its amazing to learn the history.

A beautiful enchanting fairy tale town.
A beautiful enchanting fairy tale town. Set on a lake framed by mountains.
It is very small easily done in a day or 2.
The food is delicious and reasonably priced
Salt mines worth doing 100% but give yourself a few hours as so much to see at the top!
Only down side shops and cafes open late … 10-10.30 am and close around 6.30-7 in the winter we got caught out with nowhere to eat or nothing to do in the evenings

A perfect place to visit with family.
A perfect place to visit with family.
Beautiful lake, landscapes views, snowy mountains and salt mine tour.
Hallstatt is really small and can be walked around comfortably.
Connectivity with Salzburg is easy by bug #150, 542 and 543 in around 2.5 hours.
Tip : Hallstatt old town is costly, relatively cheaper accommodation can be availed in nearby places like Obertraun.

Hallstatt is completely overrun by daytime tourists who just want the quintessential photo of the town. I could have had the same mountain lake experience by staying in a nearby town (and then not having to leave my car in P1 parking then being shuttled to the town).
Excellent view from inside the room, it’s priceless! The breakfast in room was fantastic as well. No regrets choosing this hotel, one of the best rooms I’ve stayed in.
all the rooms in the hotel is directly beside the lake, so lake view is guaranteed. the hotel is located just a few steps from the entrance to Hallstatt town. there is a free shuttle service from the P1 parking to the hotel. if you prefer to walk it is only 600m. parking costs €16 per 24 hours.
the hotel staff are really nice too.
it’s a perfect stay for us. love it!
Wonderful stay!! We parked in one of the commercial lots for about $25/night. Walked about a half mile to the hotel. Great location in the center of town. Owners are very nice. The room was great!! Bed was comfortable!! Breakfast was one of the best that we had the whole week we traveled!! Homemade everything including the yogurt. Lots of selections. Fresh fruits and juice. Would definitely return. Loved Hallstatt, super cute, walkable town. Lots of cute shops. The salt mine tour was the best!!! We loved Hallstatt and I Da Mitt!!!
The room was very comfortable and was decorated in a very charming and traditional Austrian style. The view from the room over the roof tops to the lake was spectacular and happily spent my morning on the balcony in the sunshine taking it all in. The owner was very friendly and in addition to showing me around the guesthouse also provided many good tips on things to see and do in Hallstatt along with good restaurant recommendations. There was also a good selection of complimentary teas on offer.
The hotel is in the center of Hallstatt, 100 meters from the ferry pier connecting to the railway station across the lake.
The room we stayed in, on the 2nd floor, had a balcony overlooking the lake with a table and two chairs. The room was cozy but somewhat cluttered, with too much furniture for the available space. The wi-fi connection worked without problems. The room was quiet, with no noise coming from the other rooms.
The breakfast was varied, and the service was friendly and attentive.
We LOVED our stay here. The rooms are really big for a European hotel. The room was very clean and there was house keeping each day, if wanted. The bed are comfortable with nice blankets and pillows. Location is perfect, right in the heart of the town, on the main street. Wifi works great. They have a restaurant attached that has amazing food with cheap prices! Breakfast is also included and its a nice buffet set up with coffee and juice.
We chose Pepi’s because it was very close to the scenic part of Hallstatt (it’s ALL scenic) and within walking distance for my mom who has had recent strokes. Not only was Pepi’s right in the perfect spot, but also owned by the sweetest person in Austria! I felt like I was staying at my Tante’s house. This stay made me feel like a 12 year old girl in Europe all over again. MANY THANKS, Carola!!!
We really enjoyed our stay at the secret hideaway in the historic center of Hallstatt. The boutique hotel convinced us with its minimalistic, rustic and 270 year old charm. The fact that lots of the furniture was up-cycled from original material of this old structure is very impressive and simply beautiful. Thank you for creating such an inspiring place.
The location is perfect! The room is really nice and kind. Perfect to stay 1 night and know Hallstatt without too many tourists. Staff and location 10/10
The hotel is inside Hallstatt so you need to arrive by shuttle. Everything is explained when booking at the hotel.
I had a great stay in Seehotel Gruner Baum. It is the best location in Hallstatt, right in the little square and on the lake. The room was a good size and we had a view of the lake. We are in the restaurant in the hotel every night, enjoyed the fish and pasta.
It’s well-known Hallstatt is an expensive town. Yet, compared to other apartments or hotels in the area, Apartment Sophia is still the most practical to stay in. I think it’s an old house before, but it is clean and lovely furnished.
Great location right on the lake in Hallstatt. Beautiful view and very nice room. Get a room with the water views, it’s worth it! Nice and clean inside. Free shuttle pickup from the parking lot outside town. No cars allowed in town.
We stayed just for one night and we enjoyed our stay very much. Very clean and comfortable rooms, very good breakfast, superb localisation, parking place right in front of the hotel and very good price considering it is Hallstatt.
This hotel has the best location in Hallstatt as it in the main square, on the water, and next to the church. The staff were friendly and the restaurant with its outdoor terrace provided exquisite views. Highly recommend.
The hotel is beside the funicular and the beginning of village Hallstatt! Very good breakfast! Very politie personnel! Clean room, the towels and bed covers smelled very nice! Nice balcony with view in the mountains!
Beautiful family-run hotel in the middle of the beautiful town of Hallstatt. Rooms are very comfortable, bathrooms remodeled, every room has a balcony with a view. Breakfast was excellent.
Everything is just perfect and I have a wonderful time staying in Pension Cafe Zum Muhlbach. Highly recommend this place to drop by for a lovely night in Hallstatt.
This is a cozy little guesthouse hotel and was perfect for our stay. Rooms were big and clean and the bed was super comfy. We loved it for our night in Hallstatt.
