Since we were in the low season, no food was available on place. Thanks to Tetiana and Mikhael, they helped us find solutions and we were satisfied. The location has great potential, lots of pools and the river, simply wow! Sauna was very appreciated. Lots of bird watching to do, sounds of them when waking up is very soothing. Garden and paths across are wonderful.

The lodge itself was fine, a bit basic but it was very spacious with a nice deck. But what really makes it worth your stay is the beautiful garden!!
Birds everywhere such as toucans, aracari and parrots but you can also see horses, lizards, butterflies and more.
Elias is a really kind host who helped us book a wonderful night tour and we can also recommend the breakfast.

We really enjoyed the breakfasts and dinners, fantastic local food and good portion size, loved that we got all day very delicious juices provided too. It was a very nice touch that we got hot cocoa on arrival. The farm tour was super interesting and it was great to see all the facilities that are involved in the cocoa production.

Beautiful rainforest area, very quiet, tranquil and very remote. If you want to do hikes or tours, plan the rates for entrance-fees and guides in advance, they tried to take a bit of advantage of us charging us a lot of $$$

Upala is a wonderful part of the country, partly because it is so much less visited. The wildlife/cacao/waterfalls/volcanoes - are all wonderful.
go to las hornillas, have a hot tub in a volcanic crater, get some almost good cheese. go sit in a waterfall and let nature massage you.
