Karlovy Vary owes its affluent grandeur to no fewer than 13 hot springs and a warm water river. Add to this its colourful façades and tree-lined hill setting, and it’s easy to see why it’s one of Europe’s most sophisticated spa towns.
The best views are from the Deer Leap and Diana Tower lookouts, both high above the Grandhotel Pupp, a famous 5-star hotel which starred as James Bond’s gambling retreat in ‘Casino Royale’. It also hosts an International Film Festival, but the city is really about the waters, a fact reflected in its English name – Carlsbad.
You can take the waters at the 5 springs under the Mill Colonnade, and the wrought-iron Market Colonnade houses 2 more. The Park Colonnade employs a similarly impressive style to protect 3 springs, while a geyser bursts up in the Hot Spring Colonnade. The Castle Tower overlooks the Castle Colonnade waters, and a thermal pool at Spa Hotel Thermal overlooks the city.
The beautiful churches of Karlovy Vary include the Russian-styled Church of St Peter and St Paul. The Moser Glassworks produce suitably high quality products, and the Jan Becher Museum provides an idea of what to fill them with – local Becherovka bitter.

Karlovy Vary is a fabulous place, full of beautiful historical buildings. Additionally you can treat yourself with a mineral water pouring from the many fountains that you'll pass during a city walk - just remember to have your own cup or other vessel for water. We were quite astonished that Karlovy Vary is a kind of colony for reach Russians, and when you walk through the city the dominant language that you hear is Russian. If you'd like to experience local Czech cultures and traditional Czech food, it's just a walk away from the center.MichalPoland - 10Scored 10

Beautiful small city, even if the weather is not enough good. A lot of people on the street, but does not annoy you/ It is like a carnaval every day. Once, I would like to visit the city in July during the Karlovy Vary international cinema festival.

The city itself is beautiful. Its location at the riverside with historical-looking buildings and hot springs is exceptional. However, what the city has in architecture, it lacks in facilities, especially restaurants. In general, there are only two major types of places where you can eat: beer houses and places serving Italian cuisine. The food in most of these is pretty good, but it is super expensive - two or three times pricier than what is considered normal in the rest of the country. I figure that you are paying extra for being served in the middle of nowhere at the national border, but it just felt too much. I now think of the city as being home to the posh millionaires who couldn't care less about how much they spend on food and other services.DavidCzech Republic - 10Scored 10

You can make many trips around both with travel agencies and on your own, using the offers of the Karlovy Vary Card, which you can buy on the Internet. Be sure to visit the Becherevka Museum, the tasting in the morning was very useful) The food is very dense, but you can find a Georgian restaurant, sushi and wonderful desserts. The city is truly beautiful with buildings and natural scenery visible as you walk along the river. Hot springs and saunas are essential to relieve the fatigue of travel. I had a nice holiday on Christmas.

I wanted to stay at least 2 nights in the Karlovy Vary because we missed the spa and some historical point including the Goethe house and view point. However, it was great chance to taste the water of emperor and the original wafer snack.

The rooms are spacious and extremely clean. The buffet breakfast and the restaurant are both DELICIOUS - we ate lunch and dinner at the restaurant many times. The hotel staff were so friendly and welcoming to our kids & our dog. Highly, highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Karlovy Vary!!!

The area of the hotel is really beautiful. There is no elevator and a need to climb up stip stairs. We only had a small troly, so it was not a problem for us. Just to mention that the hotel is far from the city. If you rent a car, no problem there.

All equipment for cooking was available. Providing some cooking oil would be useful. Katrin was very warm and helpful, quick to respond to requests. Would definitely stay again if we visit Karlovy Vary.
