I don’t know why the rating is a little bit low for this hotel because to me it’s really good. Our room is very spacious and clean. They also provided amenities. The reception is also very nice too.

The location was excellent to be able to catch the tram & buses. The room was small (single bedroom) but the bathroom was large. The stairs were an issue with carrying luggage. On arrival staff assisted and had already placed my luggage in my room as we had left our bags at the hotel when we went on a 5 day tour. Having the facility to eat breakfast onsite was wonderful with a choice of either continential or cooked breakfast as an additional fee. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
Overlooking Carlton Hill, Princes Street Gardens and Waverley Station, the 4-star Scotsman Hotel was originally built in 1905. This majestic, listed building was once The Scotsman newspaper.

It was a unique experience for us to not have AC nor wash clothes. Additionally, it was interesting that there was only one sheet, that covers the mattress vs. a fitted sheet and flat sheet, and only one blanket.
But the room was spacious and the staff was lovely.
