If we could score higher than 10 we would! Practically perfect in every way!
Our room ( room 3) had a stunning view of the Castle and the sea, it was absolutely spotlessly clean and tidy. The hospitality tray in our room was nothing other than outstanding! decent coffee, biscuits and hot chocolate. The bath was a total luxury , great for soaking thoses aches and pains after a day at zip world!
The location of the hotel is close to lots of beautiful beaches and attractions-perfect for a summer holiday in North Wales.
We opted to have residents dinner ( please pre order!) which just so happened to be authentic Thai food- absolutely delicious!! ( other dishes are available). Breakfast, again great quality ingredients, lots of options.
And last but by no means least our wonderful host. Nothing is too much trouble, you are made to feel so welcomed and cared for from the moment you step through the door.
Thank you for our wonderful stay! We highly recommend 👌

Beautifully quiet location. Clamping pod exceeded our expectations. Excellent value for money. The host kindly granted us a little extension on our check out time.

Walked up the steepest street in the northern hemisphere which was challenging - took me about 7 minutes.
Castle is very good.
Nice cheese and beer shop opposite the castle.
It was a good base from which to travel to other towns.

Overlooked by its majestic castle, Harlech should be a wonderful place but underinvestment (and probably the results of the pandemic) have left it with many shuttered shops and closed businesses. A great shame, as it's a shadow of the town it used to be.

Best beach in the world.
Best beach in the world. We spent 3 days on the beach in Harlech and could have spent much longer. Castle is always spectacular.
Travelled around on public transport only, went on Ffestiniog railway.
Great couple of shops in Upper Harlech selling all homewares, and fresh food. Groser Harlech great for breakfast pastries and organic produce.
Lovely walk around to find the 5 Merion chairs.
Woodland walk down from chair 3 to lower road through woodland, a cave and a waterfall in someone's garden.

As the weather wasn’t good.
As the weather wasn’t good. Heavy rain we didn’t get onto the beach as intended or indeed explore the local area as planned. Harlech has a lot to offer as we have been there previously and we intend to visit again. Country side and views are amazing and the Castle restaurant in Harlech does amazing food.

Harlech has a great Castle and an amazing beach (approx 5km long and separated into dog / no dog zones).
There is a lot of self catering accommodation but you really need to travel to the next town (20mins) for a bigger shop. Porthmadog has everything.
If you want to eat out in Harlech, there's very limited choice (we only found 2 good places, both hotels)
Besides the beach and castle, there is golf and good walks. If you after nightlife, probably not for you.
We were made to feel very welcome from the moment of our arrival and throughout our stay. Deborah was very friendly and always happy to chat with us and give recommendations of places to visit in the area. The property stands in a lovely peaceful location away from town, but easily accessible by car and close enough to neighboring village for evening meal. Plenty of off-road parking available for guests. Excellent breakfast choice include, pre-ordered to personal preferences on preceding evening.
Great hotel. The current owners have done a lot to turn the place around, have modernized and it is now a lovely place to stay. It has parking but also right next door to the station. The beach is very close by and has just wonderful sands. Our room had a view to the castle and we slept well. Comfy bed and nice shower. Tea and coffee in room. Clean and tidy with adequate space for hanging clothes etc. Corner shop over the road. Nicely cooked breakfast - perfect eggs.
This is a very old building in the center of the village. The rooms have king beds and are immaculate. There are some steps, but they are manageable. There are three parking spaces and a parking lot closer to the castle. The owner is so friendly. She also has a dining room for her guests and a small bar. The motif is airplane, and is decorated in many pictures from their career in the airlines. we enjoyed our stay here.
Great location. Short walk to town center. Brilliant views of the sea from the bedroom window.
The owner was very welcoming even offering to make a pot of tea on our arrival.
The owner had added lots of thoughtful things for the house/room (eg. A small fridge in the room supplied with fresh milk!)
The whole house was scrupulously clean.
The owner gave us lots of local information about the surrounding area.
The cottage was perfect for the two of us and our dog. Nicely equipped and so quick to warm up. Harlech Castle is beautiful and fun to explore. The Deli in the village is wonderful & the shop diagonally opposite is one of those small places that sell everything! The shop opposite the castle has outstanding homemade ice cream. The walks around the town are beautiful and the beach is reached through dunes.
Liam and rachel did a fantastic job making us feel welcome and at home! We loved the view of Harlech castle, the history and vintage feel of the hotel. Our room had space and all items needed. The hotel is not luxurious but has plenty of charm and hard working kind people! We ate a wonderful dinner and breakfast in the hotel and it was delicious and plentiful! We truly enjoyed our visit and the hotel.
charming and peaceful place ideal for relaxation. This hotel has an amazing and warm atmosphere. The rooms are clean and modern, the service is very nice. Amazing food, delicious starters, dinners, breakfasts and desserts. Near this hotel there is a castle that is worth visiting. It is also worth seeing the sandy beach which is located near the hotel. Perfect location.
I recommend
We enjoyed our stay very much at Gwrach Ynys guest house. The surroundings are stunning, just 5minutes from Harlech castle and the beach. Deborah and her team were very helpful to make us feel most comfortable and served us with amazing breakfast every morning. The house in itself is magnificent and we had the best nights there.
Great location, just 5 mins walk from Harlech Castle. Really friendly and helpful staff. Excellent, large room with a huge bathroom and separate lounge area. The bed was really comfortable. We could see part of the castle and the sweeping coast line from the bedroom and bar area. Food in the restaurant was excellent too.
Location was perfect for where we wanted to go each day. Ground floor meant no lugging cases upstairs! Very tasteful & attractive interior. Best equipped kitchen of any property we have used. Good space for the two of us. Lovely gifts [edible] and milk on our arrival! Useful booklet of info about local pub etc.
Lovely hosts,
COVID secure
Nice room and bedding with toiletries and tea/coffee provided.
Great breakfast .
Short walk to castle.......slightly further to Harlech's fantastic beach and views.
Good base for our visits to Slate mine ZIP , Ffestiniog railway at Portmadoc and Portmerion.
Great stay
Excellent B&B in Harlech - large spacious room, spotlessly clean, white fluffy towels & lovely comfy bed. Great breakfast. Wonderful view from the room. Hosts Lynne & Mark were friendly & helpful. Excellent value & would highly recommend. If you stay here you won’t be disappointed.
The Cottage was absolutely fabulous!!!
It had everything that we needed, was lovely and cosy.
The location was perfect a short walk down to the beach, and a short drive into Harlech itself.
We had a lovely stay and can't wait to return, we didn't want to leave
This was a nice place to say in lovely Harlech. We had a bit of trouble finding it as Apple Maps gave us some bad directions, but the owners were so kind and helpful and even came looking for us. The room was nice and clean. The breakfast was very good.
Great location, excellent facilities, very clean and comfortable. Everything needed to cook and enjoy a meal. very comfortable bed. Dedicated parking outside the building. A great place to stay and enjoy Harlech and the surrounding area.
Excellent location, very easy walking distance to Harlech castle and local facilities. Nice property with a very good conservatory/kitchen/living area large enough for all daytime activities.
Saul was the perfect host, got a hot cuppa on arrival which was most welcome, made me feel at home and gave loads of helpful information on the area. Great value for money.
Beautiful views, easy walk to the beach, lovely and clean. The goodie bag was a nice touch and the explorer pass was warmly received. Convenient parking too.
Superb location and room. Good breakfast. The proprietors Mark and Linda were very friendly, and helped to make our visit to Harlech a very successful one.
