All hidden away a bit (up side streets) but really worth it.
Lovely town. ability to use ferry to go to MAddalena, which is also nice. There was a market every night from around 9pm. There was also events in the square on Friday and Saturday. Really lively. Loved it.

I was in Palau in October. Very good place where to stay as base for daily trips in the nearby places.

Palau is the perfect place to stay if you want to explore the Costa Smeralda. Its not too large and has a very friendly athmosphere.
There is a beautiful beach really close to the apartment and there are so many great restaurants, bars, coffee shops and a lovely Gelato shop all near the marina.
There is a ferry that goes back and forth all day to Maddelena Island which is beautiful. You can either go on foot or take the car.
We travelled all along the coast and found numerous wonderful beaches and stunning marinas.
We would definitely stay there again

Nice area around the harbour.
Nice area around the harbour. A number of restaurants that are perfect for 3-4 days. Plenty of opportunities to go on a sailing trip to La madalane and the other lovely islands around Palau. You just have to try it. Sailing trips can be made in many price classes.

I definitely recommend going on a boat trip, beautiful beaches that you will only see when you travel by boat. I would recommend taking a ferry to the island of La Maddalena, renting a scooter or car and crossing this small but beautiful island.

Palau is the nearest seaside town from the ferry landing...
Palau is the nearest seaside town from the ferry landing between Corsica in France and Sardinia in Italy. Hotels need to be booked well in advance, end September is a good time to visit. The nearby Islands of Madalena, Caprera and the other islands are a bonus. Costa Smeralda is within easy driving distance from Palau. Mind the restaurants they can be pricey.
Very nice, modern and complete vacation house. Owners Lucia and Pietro are very friendly and give good advice about things to do. They are very easy going and we felt welcome. Explanation about equipment and rules are written in several languages and very easy and clear. It’s a very clean and spacious house which is well equiped.
The location is good. You’ll need a car, but then you’re in 5 minutes in Palau and in 15 minutes at the Beach.
We recommend Gli Ulivi Palau!
A bright, big, quiet and cool summer house with very nice view on the nearby islands. The landlord Tiziana is a remarkably kind and sympathetic person. She gave as a thorough introduction into the house and throughout the whole stay we could contact her at any time. We are especially grateful to her since we were allowed to stay much longer until late afternoon in the house than the usual checkout time, since the next day was not booked and our ferry departed only in the evening.
great location with impressive views of the sea and Maddalena island. Walking to the city center takes only 15 minutes, to the beach 20 minutes. Gated parking available. From the first floor there is partial sea view. Breakfast was good. Palau as a vacation location is very good, plenty of beaches available within 30 minutes drive. The staff was great and very helpful. The hotel beach part has good sunbeds and umbrellas. Good restaurants in the town center require reservation.
The staff was very helpful and friendly! They made me feel welcome and help me find my place with no issues. Also I was so happy that I was able to use the washing machine to clean some of my clothes after traveling for over a week in Italy. I looked forward to the nice Americano and croissant in the morning! Very close to the boat which we took over to Maddalena Island. You have to do that while you're there! A close drive to some nice beaches too!
Clean apartments, very attractive location of the village and extremely helpful personnel. Lots of spectacular beaches, rock formations and landscapes in 5-60 minutes car drive radius. We stayed for 10 days, which was optimal to visit most of great places in the northern Sardinia. To fully explore the whole island we would probably need 30 days though :)
Very quiet room, which was perfect as at the hotels at the main street you hear the garbage disposal cars all during the night. This hotel you can only reach by foot but it is very central, right off the main shopping street. Perfect location, will book again 100% if I come back. Much better than a hotel. Sweet host, lots of free amenities!
Palau is very nice and the forest in which the camping is nice. However the cleanliness and the staff of the camping are the worst. I have never been disrespected in the way I experienced at this camping. It was the worst experience of my life and the worst period of my stay in Sardinia.
The staff are super helpful and accommodating. They went above and beyond what is expected of them and even went on to organize a cake for my daughters birthday.
They also organized sailing with Francesco -who was super cool!
By far the friendliest hotel we stayed in.
Very conveniently situated to board a boat trip around the Maddalena islands, this nice little hotel is run by a family who seems to love their work and welcoming people in Palau, with little attentions like preparing baby’s crib and high chair for breakfast.
The hotel has a lot of potential. Architecturally it is lovely mimicking the Sardinian towns/homes. It is very close to the beach (7 min walk) and close to the town. The staff was super friendly and kind. The greenery and location was just great.
The location is fantastic - just a stone throw away from everything but tucked away. My room was clean, comfortable and if you can get a room with a view I would recommend it. Seeing Palau from the balcony was fantastic especially at sunset.
beautiful view wow! best view you could have in Palau. was near the haven and the ferry to the island. Also only 10 min walk to the citycenter. Personal was very friendly and gave us some very good tips for places to go!!
good location for those who are not looking for a hotel direct in the city centre, app 20 mins walking distance to the beach and the town of Palau, or 5 mins by car.
great location. the hotel was close to the port where you could take the ferry to the La Maddalena island and close to all the restaurants and bars in Palau
