The private house was right on the Kumano.
We stayed only one night but wish it was longer.
Shino is the perfect host! After eating breakfast at her cafe, we went to board the bus across the street. I completely forgot my bag. Shino made sure I got it back! She had the bus company flag down the bus we were on and delivered it to me.
Her homemade meals and warm accommodations will not be forgotten any time soon!!

Tanabe was our starting point for our Kumano Kodo trek so we stayed in Tanabe only one day not realizing how much there is to do in Tanabe. If we ever come to Tanabe again, we will be sure to stay longer to enjoy all that there is to do there. Having visited Japan so many times, this trip was probably the best of all. I followed the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage and experienced both the people, the culture and the religion of ancient Japan. I spent in total about 4 days walking and all of the accommodations (family run b&b and a hot spring hotel) was all very clean, with tasty food and friendly people. I'd love to go back again and experience the other less famous trails of the same region.Pei-Ju LucyTaiwan

It’s about a 10 minute walk from Kii-Tanabe Station, so it’s pretty convenient. This accommodation is great for foreigners because the host is also foreign and speaks English! The rooms are clean and comfortable. The front door is always unlocked, so you can come and go as you please. There are also no check-out procedures, so you can just leave the property in the morning whenever you want easily. There’s also a kitchen that you have full use of.KaylaJapan
