This place is in a beautiful coastal village is out of the way, which is great! 15 minute drive to kudat, 20 minutes from the tip of borneo.
The accommodation is simple, but for the price it's great.
The host, Jair, is incredibly helpful and can arrange for meals cooked in the homestay for 15rm each.

We had an amazing stay for a week at Tammoyo Place with Romeo and Mesah from the time Romeo picked us up from the jetty to the time he dropped us back.
We had a cabin and an open hut. The kids were nervous about sleeping out but they loved it once they tried it. We should have booked 2 open huts.
I'm sure there is plenty to do on Pulau Banggi for the more intrepid traveller but we did pretty much nothing except swim, draw, paint, read, and relax. And star gazing. And the complete e-learning for the PADI open water course.
The place is absolutely serene.
Mesah is a phenomenal cook and we had amazing food everyday; crab, slipper lobster, chicken, prawns, squid, fresh fruits and delicious vegetables. We went for the full board option and were stuffed full every time.
We saw wild bearded pigs rooting for crabs on the beach.
Phenomenal sunsets every night that lasted about an hour and a half as the sun set of Pulau Balambangan.
No WiFi and no phone connection, Romeo let us hotspot for some liasing with our driver on the mainland. It was great to be disconnected from everything. If you need a connection Romeo was on Celcom so get that for a SIM card.
No sun loungers or sofas, you have your bed and there are picnic tables. You could bring a hammock.
Animals; a few dogs running about the place, they were not interested in being petted so didn't make themselves a nuisance. But they kept the wild pigs away. Apparently there are crocodiles in the deeper water but we didn't see any. Bats at night.
Insects; very few mosquitos being right on the water but it is sand underfoot everywhere so expect sand fly bites. Though they weren't as bad as we've had elsewhere and they went down quickly.
We did want for anything but for a few soft drinks and when we asked for them Romeo picked them up on the next shopping trip. And a fan which Romeo set up.
We were brilliantly well looked after. Tammoyo place is a little slice of heaven.
Situated in Tiga Papan, a few steps from Kalampunian Beach, Tumombuvoi Homestay (Sidi place) features air-conditioned accommodation with a balcony and free WiFi.

The most fantastic location! White beach, clean room, great airconditioning and such amazing food! The best we had in all our stain in Malaysia. Also great for stargazing, snorkelling and spotting monkeys on the side of the road. Super friendly people (and dogs) too!! 10/10 would recommend!

Nestled in the northern reaches of Borneo, Kudat is an enchanting district that unveils a world of natural beauty and cultural richness. Our time here was nothing short of mesmerizing.
Nature enthusiasts will be enthralled by the diverse landscapes that Kudat offers. From the stunning beaches like Tip of Borneo, where the South China Sea meets the Sulu Sea in a breathtaking convergence, to the lush greenery of the countryside, Kudat paints a picture of serenity and raw beauty.
The local culture and traditions are woven intricately into the fabric of everyday life. Exploring the Rungus Longhouses was a highlight, providing a glimpse into the indigenous way of life, adorned with vibrant traditions and warm hospitality. The Tamu (local market) was a kaleidoscope of colors, scents, and flavors, offering an authentic immersion into the local lifestyle.
Kudat's culinary scene deserves accolades. Fresh seafood straight from the sea to the table was a delightful experience, coupled with flavorsome local dishes that tantalized our taste buds and left us craving for more.
While the pace of life in Kudat is slower, it's this unhurried rhythm that allows for genuine connections with both the surroundings and the welcoming locals.
For travelers seeking a serene escape filled with cultural richness, Kudat is a hidden gem waiting to be explored. Immerse yourself in its natural wonders and vibrant heritage, and you'll leave with memories to cherish for a lifetime.

If you like unpolished and very basic right at the sea than this can be your place to chill out. Tides over here are somewhere between 1,5-2 meters.

Apart from the tip of borneo, nothing much to do.
Apart from the tip of borneo, nothing much to do. Beach will not be so beautiful during Dec as the weather is bad. All the beautiful beach and blue water that you see in pictures do not apply if there is a tropical storm at the area. The Kudat down is boring and not as I have imagined. Tip, only go during good weather when the sea is calmer.

The friendly people, the sandy beaches and the coconut trees...
The friendly people, the sandy beaches and the coconut trees everywhere give Kudat district a special, relaxed, holiday feel, distinct from the rest of the west coast of Sabah. The Tip of Borneo is the focal point for beach goers, with its white sands and clear water, but any drive provides interesting insights into the local ways of life.

Kudat City is not worth visiting, the only interesting place...
Kudat City is not worth visiting, the only interesting place there is the food market. Well, if you do not want to see the marine life on the grill, do not go there at all.
The beaches (apart from our hotel beach) were very polluted by plastic and household waste.
The best restaurant in the area is in the Nine Huts Resort. Many vegetarian and vegan options too. Very helpful and smiling service. The food was probably the best we have experienced in Malaysia during our 2 weeks tour (Penang and Borneo).
If you have car, go to the "secret beach", google it on the maps. There is a nice bar called Robys - definitely worth visit for the sunset. The beach is clean because the owner of the bar cleans it. No public showers there however. The bar has showers, however had no water during our visit.
The location is perfect ... Morning view is stunning looking over the gulf and the fish port, sunset view lagi best where you can see beautiful colours of the sky, hills and sea water.
Downstairs of the hotel you can access to a supermarket to get your supplies, also you have a local breakfast place. Parking is plenty.
kudat is a peaceful town, good place to run away from busy city, The resort is abit old but no bother for me and my girl,we both enjoyed.
Breakfast , fried chicken and curry chicken super delicious!!!

A family run guest house situated beside the beach at Kudat, it took about 20 min from Kudat town. Basic facilities but the atmosphere was great. We order dinner serve with fish, vegetables and meat, the taste is really delicious. Recommended!!
The location is good. Watson and DIY just beside the hotel. The restaurant just behind the hotel.
We forgot to collect our deposit, the staff called us many times to inform about the deposit. Honest and trustworthy. Staffs are nice.
Looked great online with reviews. Was so excited to stay, however not only is it on a different island to Kudat (that is not stipulated any where) so a 1.5hr ferry’s ride then a 2hr car journey
The staff hospitality is acceptable & nice.
The hotel location is surround with Chinese restaurant food, 99 Speedmart, laundry and nearest to town. Parking space is free & open.
Location of resort just north of kudat was so peaceful. Jonathan and Joy were amazing hosts, spent two days exploring and snorkeling some of the best coral reef we have seen.
