Historic sites in town but not well presented - most buildings in the castle complex could only be viewed from outside.
Unable to find a good place to eat - no-one (including tourist information staff) able to think of a restaurant offering "Slovak' cuisine!

Nitra is a pleasant town, situated an hour bus ride away from the Slovak capital Bratislava. Nitra is important for Slovaks because of its history, Christian (sacral) architecture and of course, agricultural studies and trade fairs.
I was surprised to also see a Synagogue, which is in a very good condition. It has a unique Moorish and Art Nouveau style.
I recommend also a walk up the small hill to see the Calvary and enjoy the view at the whole Nitra.
There is a lovely vegan and vegetarian place (open only 11.00-14.00) in the Nitra centre on the Farska street, I ate their main course as well as falafels, delicious! Last but not least, it's good to go for a walk next to the nitra river, it's pleasant

A quiet, comfortable city for those who like a relaxing holiday. It is definitely worth a visit to the main historical attraction of the city - Nitryansky Grad. Very nice place with a long history. You can climb the tower, take a walk in the park and sit in a cafe with a wonderful view of the city.

It was a nice change to be in a city that had not been overrun by tourism. The pedestrian area had many restaurants/cafes and of the two we used the food was high quality and eating alfresco at 2200 hours was very pleasant. Pope John Paul II chose to visit Nitra - a good decision - a wonderful statue of him in the grounds of the castle and a brilliant view of the city from the cathedral bell tower. With the exception of the swimming pool complex in the park, probably not that interesting for children. There is a direct bus from Bratislava airport to Nitra which you should pre-book, especially on the return journey.

I visited Nitra on a business trip, but had the opportunity to spend some time exploring the town,
It is a lovely town with a good mixture of old and modern architecture, with the occasional 1950's Soviet inspired block dotted around. The Castle and Cathedral on top of the hill, are well worth a visit. as you get fabulous views over the surrounding countryside and the baroque interior to the cathedral is awe inspiring.
There are numerous places to eat in the town, all offering good value fro money
Helpful staff, unfortunately not speaking much of English. My improvised Polish was enough to catch the basic info from the Slovakian speaking owner. Huge and clean room, although not exactly super quiet if you are given one on the side of the road and leave the window open. Wifi works. Large bathroom. Parking is their open air small courtyard. Motorcycle can fit just under a large balcony, so you are covered from rain. City center in a walking distance with tons of restaurants.
The hotel is right near the city centre, which is a big plus. Also, the hotel has it's own parking, which was also a plus when I reserved. Everything was nice and clean, we got a medium sized room with a view of the city center square (and also a view of the Nitra Castle to the left, which was nice). Air conditioning in the room was also very welcome. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was clean, everything was OK. Breakfast was good but I would fancy a bit wider variety of food.
Location, decoration, design, spacious room with the castle view. Superior top floor rooms designed tastefully in various styles, ample space and big, stylish bathroom. Not a typical hotel room. Also, the decor throughout the hotel, including the small canteen was superior with lot of attention put to little detail.
It is located in very nice part of Nitra, just below the Zobor hill, but at the same time in walking distance from the city center. The shopping mall is about 10 minutes walk from here. Rooms are very well equiped, clean. In the bulding hosts can use the restaurant and wellness. Staff is nice and friendly.
The apartment is beautiful! Just like the pictures. The facilities are new, really well equipped. You got everything you would need, hair dryier, vacuum, oven, pots and pans...
Feels just like home!
2mins from the city cetre, there are multiple stores a minute away.
Would definitely stay again!
Five stars service! Location great, plenty of parking space, area safe, room was large, well furbished, very clean, luxurious features. Meals were scrumptious. Stsff proffesional. I think i found my favorite place in Nitra
There is a bar in the hotel which allows smoking. There is a terrible smoke smell at reception and you can also smell it on the first floor at breakfast . I think its against the law to smoke inside in Slovakia
Excellent Hotel with really good Decor and facility in rooms. Very Clean rooms and perfect breakfast options given in morning. I will recommend all to stay at this hotel and enjoy the service and facility.
The rooms are nicely decorated, it looks like an old style aristocratic house. Everything is well maintained. I really liked the breakfast and most of all the deer far on the back of the hotel.
A friendly reception with English speaking staff. The hotel was very clean. The bed was comfortable. Plenty of towels and the towel rail worked even in May which means one could dry things.
The hotel was located in a very central part of the city. You could reach everywhere easily. Taxi rides are reasonably priced. The hotel is very clean and the staff is very friendly.
