We arrived early and were able to go to our room immediately, the room was immaculate and we were in awe at the detail that went into the look and feel of the place. Apart from feeling like royalty it also makes you feel like you are in a temple as we visited quite a few and couldn’t help but compare. The area is so peaceful and adds to the ambience of the hotel.

After spending 17 days in Bangkok, Chiang Rai was a nice break for 3 days. Quiet, slower pace of life. Lovely night bazaar with lots of food options (love the hot pot) and live music. Wat Rong Khun white temple, Wat Rong Seur blue temple and Wat Huay Pla Kang big Buddha are worth seeing. Khun Korn NationalPark is worth the hike up to the waterfall - bamboo jungle and cold refreshing swim. We were here in mid-March so farmers are burning and very hazy up north so did not go to the golden triangle.

If Chiang Mai is the "jewel of the north" then Chiang Rai is the "Emerald of the True North".
Chiang Rai history dates back beyond Chiang Mai and was the original Lanna city state founded by King Mengrai in the mid 1200s AD. This king of times long past is still revered and remembered to this day by Lanna people.
Chiang Rai has history coming out of its cobblestones and weblike laneways. I won't try to list them here because they are easy to find in many other reviews and info sheets. What I can do here is just to raise interest in one of the most understated jewels of Thailand.
Chiang Rai is the central hub of Lanna culture today. And the Lanna language is still spoken commonly all around Chiang Rai province. In many homes it's the preferred language until kids start going to school and so can be heard all over the place. I've often heard conversations where people interchange Lanna with Thai ... very confusing. The temples and shrines of Chiang Rai province are just as spectacular and just as mystical as any elsewhere in Thailand. And the history of the Lanna people is integrally intertwined in all the older temples, chedis, stupas, salas and other public places.
Chiang Rai province is renowned for its coffee at Doi Chang and other places. It's also one of the major tea growing areas of Asia. Mountainous landscapes eclipse anything that can be seen further south and the weather is always a bit cooler and fresher air than further south also. A short drive north can take you up to the Myanmar border at Mai Sai and you can even go visit the Mekong River in all its glory.
If you plan to visit Northern Thailand and only go as far as Chiang Mai then you are missing out BIGTIME!!!
So I suggest you 'do yourself a favour' and make plans to explore Chiang Rai and all its provincial eye-catching destinations soon. Happy Travels.

Others can talk about the White Temple, Blue Temple etc etc I simply want to say that Chiang Rai offers a hugely different perspective to that of any other Thailand city ... and it's MORE than worth your while to visit. The surrounding mountains and various attractions there are multitudinous. The temples are just as impressive (for Buddhists and non-Buddhist alike) as in Chiang Mai and in fact Chiang Rai predates Chiang Mai as the famous King Mengai's capital city for his Lanna Kingdom.
The Lanna culture is unique in all of Southeast Asia and Chiang Rai is really still the epicentre of Lanna and all its aspects. If you are looking for a truly cultural and spectacular holiday experience then Chiang Rai is one place that YOU SHOULD NOT MISS.
So do yourself a favour and get yourself up to Chiang Rai ... in the Lanna lands of clouds and smiles!

Visited the Balloon Fiesta in Singha Park.
Visited the Balloon Fiesta in Singha Park. Plenty to see and do, we'll probably do it again next year.
I was lucky enough to visit the White Temple during Covid, and although it wasn't possible to go inside it was lovely to be able to see it without the crowds. Having just driven past this time I wasn't sure it would be worth the wait in the queue to go inside.

Chiang Rai is a nice place with friendly people, which can meet the needs/expectations of different people with varied tastes. It is not very touristy, so much more natural. Rent a car and it is easy to get about with Google Maps. Enjoy the natural environment, the food and fruits, and various attractions.
The couple running the hotel were great hosts and cooked really good food at cheap prices ! Motorbike rentals are available and location was good
Very good value for money as less than £10 a room but the rooms are Thai style no a/c no TV and need updating !
Plenty of backpackers were there !
We had a good 2 day stay here and enjoyed 5 different meals !
We are used to thai style rooms but might not suit everyone if we go back to chiang rai we would stay here again as the hosts were fantastic !
The setting by the river was peaceful and lovely. Thai food in the Terrace restaurant was very good, the prices reasonable for a hotel, and the servings large. We didn't bother eating elsewhere as the food was so good. Another guest said the Italian restaurant was very good too, but we didn't try it. The infinity pool was lovely. The day spa was excellent, the masseurs very good. Prices are probably a bit cheaper in town, but the massages still cost half the price I would have paid at home.
The staff are very friendly. The rooms are well equipped. We had a great view on the river. Breakfast also has reasonable range of options. The garden and swimming pool areas are beautiful. The location is also good - walking distance to the city sights. The hotel has its own restaurant, shop, rooftop bar, and a massage & spa center.
Overall, it's absolutely recommended. I think this is the best place to stay in Chiang Rai.
Location is in the middle of town about 350 m from clock tower and 550 m from night bazaar. It is also near MM morning fresh veggie/ food market. Taking Grab everywhere is inexpensive. Do not take taxi from in front of hotel, taxis there overcharge!!! Hotel breakfast was excellent with lots of choice, especially coffee from machine. There is also a clean swimming pool . Two lovely temples opposite the hotel
I would said that the best part of our stay was the owner. Very helpful with everything from tips about dinning, what to see around the city to the rent of scooters. The owner even give us map as well! We've arrive earlier and there was no problem with leaving the luggages at the hotel. Rooms were very spacious with comfortable bed and balcony. Small fridge with complimentary water was in our room as well.
This hotel was in a really great spot. Close to the main area of town with lots of stores, restaurants and markets. When we first arrived our air conditioning was not working but we were able to find staff right away and when we went to get food they came in and cleaned the filter then when we arrived back it was working amazingly! All of the staff are super friendly and the cats are too:)
The room was huge! It had two full bathrooms, both with a shower, a living room and lots of closet space. A shopping mall called Central was just a 10-minute walk away. Breakfast was good and varied. The staff were very kind and always willing to help. The hotel in general has a traditional air to it, but combines modern touches and everything seems brand new.
This was out third visit to this hotel and we came with a family group of 9 for 5 days.
It is a magic place and the magic still exists. The location on the river is the main focus and the landscaping is brilliant. It is a large hotel but never feels it. The streets behind have a village feel and are well away from the chaos of downtown.
Really cosy place to stay with a decent sized room. Bathroom was well equipped too. Bed was comfy and big. Free bikes to get around town were a really nice touch, as was the complimentary breakfast. The staff at the hotel were very accommodating, letting us check out before the regular check in time due to our early transport.
New modern hotel. Air conditioned lobby is like a paradise when we walked in from the heat outside. 😊 Location is good. It is on the main road (just 20 minutes from the most northern point). The room is spacious and functional. Bed is really comfy. Breakfast is really good with lots of variety.
Decoration, colors, plants , flowers , terrace , common kitchen , silence , table outside
The hotel and the room are more beautiful in real life than on photos on booking site.
The woman who cleaned the room.
We stayed 7 days.
The location in the city centre.
Location near the night food fair and bus station, price is good, we booked this hotel to stay overnight instead of going back with the 1day tour to chiang mai. Took the green bus next day and have a leasure time at chiang Rai. Small Town don't expect too high.
Comfortable boutique hotel in a convenient location for Chaing Rai centre. Staff are all lovely and the rooms are comfortable. Pool area is very nice, and the spa good. Overall great value for money.
The room we had was sufficient and quiet. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was buffet-style with many options. The hotel is on the edge of town but very close to the night market.
This hotel is a great value for money. it is bit far from the center of the city but we rented a bike so it was like a 5 minutes ride. overall amazing.
