Absolute nightmare. When we arrived, they didn’t have our booking. You need to climb up the stairs to the 2nd floor to “check in” and no one is helping. Staff barely speaks any English and they are the most unhelpful people I’ve met working in hospitality. There’s an entire construction site next to the property- be prepared for all day noise and dust. There was a drunk person trying to enter our room at 3am - informed the property manager and I’m yet to get a response a week later. Oh, and the WiFi doesn’t work and also there’s no reception whatsoever. AVOID!!!!!

We enjoyed our stay a lot especially because of the hosts. Matt, Jenny and Pier were really nice and super helpful to book events and support us through it all. We really felt like we were part of the family. Other residents were also nice and everyone vibed nicely. We miss Babalao and the thrill of getting into the room with new bed designs everytime 😅 The staff also did a beautiful job supporting my fiancé to surprise me on my birthday morning 🥰🥰

The receptionists extremely good and very helpful
The receptionists extremely good and very helpful
If you enjoy more of a tourist and party atmosphere this is probably the place for you
I personally prefer the more relaxed atmosphere where the staff are not so ‘on top’ of you
I booked 2 suits unfortunately one was on top of the bar and kitchen so it was quite noisy until midnight
The second suit was bottom floor access to the beach but the beach beds were full of clothes just dumped there
When I mentioned it I was told that it was ok
Not really very good for 2 suits for 500€ a day
Needless to say the next day we changed hotels to a more relaxed one more to my liking
Not to say that the hotel was bad just not for me

Paje is more chill and relaxing than in the north.
Paje is more chill and relaxing than in the north. Best place for kite surfing. The tide can influence the possibility of swimming therefore if you want beach/sun/swimming you better choose north, Kendwa.

Pajde is a small village, BUT you can find everything there.
Pajde is a small village, BUT you can find everything there. ATM, bars, beach kitesurf mostly. If you want to party all night then it might not be your place. If you love watersports and laid-back people then you are in the right spot. Visited Nungwi, but preferred Paje.

On our first day in Paje, the winds were quite strong,...
On our first day in Paje, the winds were quite strong, making it less suitable for leisure. Most of the local activities centered around kite surfing. So, if you're hoping for calm beachside strolls, Nungwi in the north is a better choice. Additionally, the tidal patterns here differ from what we're used to in the Northern Hemisphere. The tide comes in during the day and recedes in the evening. We once found ourselves stranded on the beach due to the swift rise in tide. It's something to be mindful of if visiting.
The Garden was a lovely, tranquil spot in Paje where we could come back after a long day and relax. The staff were all fantastic, especially the manager Natasha who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything needed for a good stay. She also provided several great recommendations for things to do and places to eat, which was much appreciated as it was our first time in Paje. Overall, we had a fantastic stay at the Garden and will definitely be coming back when we return to Zanzibar.
If I could give this place 1,000 stars, I would. Easily one of the best places I've ever stayed at anywhere. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and clean. Everything has an ocean view. It's beachfront access so you're in the water in just a few steps, and if the ocean swimming isn't for you, the pool is just as amazing. The staff is incredible, so warm and welcoming! The restaurant attached to the hotel is maybe one of the best in Paje. If I were closer, I'd go every few months, lol.
Top place! We often visit Paje - it is one of the best places in Zanzibar in our opinion, this time we had a pleasure to stay at Mlango, from which was only like one minute to the beach, such a good location for this rates! (we didn't even need to take any shoes with us!). Great owners, the manager was very helpful, a delicious and very various breakfasts! Always clean at the facility and high-quality service! We recommend it and we will definitely come back soon!:)
We love Zanzibar and have been many times but this was a new location. It was steps from the beach, it had a variety of pools to choose from, the staff were super helpful and attentive. On the day we left, our flight was late in the day. We checked out of the room and not only could we store our bags upfront, but they had a room where we could shower and change clothes before heading to the airport, all at no additional charge. Talk about service!!
The hotel is situated within a five minute walk to the beach. They offer daily yoga classes. Food was good and there is a supermarket nearly. Good location, there are cool restaurants and bars around this area. The bathroom had nice toiletries from Inaya Zanzibar - a local eco brand. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Overall, it's a good Dutch-run hotel that offers European level of service.
A very wonderful experience, I'm glad I chose this place that will provide you with everything for which you plan to visit Zanzibar and Paje. The service is at the highest level, the food is excellent, and I will miss the avocado toast the most! 😅
I guarantee that I will definitely return to Your Zanzibar place again soon, and let me not forget to praise the staff 😀
Beautiful little hotel in a perfect location on the Paje beach. Great food at the restaurant, and we enjoyed the night with the live band. I also liked that you could eat at their sister property, Mahali, and charge it to the room. The staff were all helpful and friendly, and the small pool overlooking the beach was a great spot to chill with a drink.
Perfect place to stay. European standarts are not often found on the coast but the place has exceeded the expectations for the price paid. Rooms were clean, staff was super friendly. There were quite a few offers for tours arround Zanzibar which was not overpriced. Hotel has also provided airport shuttle service which was comfortable.
Everything in this place is fantastic. I had a great time here. The staff care attentively and kindly, always smiling and wanting to help. The hotel’s so clean, and the decor vis mesmerizing. The owner is such a beautiful lady, kindly and down to earth. I booked some excursions with Shebytripzanzibar. booking this place again
Villa Kiota is a nice option if you would like to stay in Paje close to the beach and the restaurants on the main road. The rooms are nice and the staff is friendly. Breakfast is tasty as well.
The garden is beautiful and if you're lucky, you will see the rare red colobus only living on Zanzibar passing by.
We had an amazing stay at Jambo Beach Hotel. Everything was fantastic right from check-in, cleanliness, interior decor and professional staff. AC worked perfectly and could easily access the beach whenever I wanted to. I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again when I visit Zanzibar
I had a wonderful stay at Jaribu Beach Hotel! The staff was very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The property and the beach are absolutely stunning. The food was excellent. I will definitely choose this hotel if I make another visit to Zanzibar.
Best place to stay in Paje! Hotel was amazing - breakfast was fantastic, great beach views and staff were very friendly. We will totally go back and stay at Mr Kahawa! Rooms were spacious and clean. Exceeded my expectations.
Room: Modern, a lot of space, good air conditioner and ventilator, hot water and wifi.
Location: top, 3min walk to paje beach, and 5min to the next supermarket.
For budget stay in Zanzibar, really good value of money.
Amazing property to stay in. special thanks to George for all the support that he gave me from day 1. I will definitely revisit this hotel again on my future plan to Zanzibar.
Brand new hotel, very clean, exceptional service from all of staff taking care of guests. Food was great. Direct access to one of the most beautiful beaches in Zanzibar.
Amazing hotel, wonderful staff, beautiful beach, delicious food.
I loved this place very much and if I'll ever be back in Zanzibar - it'd be my stay for a 100%
