Beautiful island! Would recommend 3 full days here. We had one day renting a scooter and going to the national park (1h30 hike) and 2 caves near the National Park. Then we went on the night boat trip with kayaking & swimming to see the bioluminescence plankton. Then the next day we went on the Lan Ha Bay & Halong Bay boat trip with kayaking. Both trips were booked with Cat Ba Local who we'd highly recommend! Then the third day we walked around town to see the markets and went to the 3 beaches. Then hired a tandem bike in town in the evening! Lovely island so allow time to relax and enjoy it. It was very easy to get around and book any trips the day before via tour agencies or hotels.

It is convenient to travel to Cat Ba from Hanoi city, only 3 hours travelling. You can enjoy both sea and forest at the same trip in Cat Ba island. Food is the most I like in Cat Ba, especially sea food and ice cream.AAnonymous - 6.0Scored 6.0

There is no beach in the bay. You have to travel further afield. It would be good to know when your chosen hotel/accommodation is on a steep hill. Cat Ba has a great little market, a few good restaurants, good foot massage and friendly folks

Cat Ba is a nice spot to just chill.
Cat Ba is a nice spot to just chill. There is good accommodation around and lots of eating place to choose from. You can also spend 8 hours cruising on the bay if you wish with lunch included. The cruise was very enjoyable. Oasis restaurant on the main street is a great place to eat, drink or have a cup of coffee. The food is great there. They have a pool table there and it's free to play. If you want to go to the beach, it's near the Flamingo Resort which is a 20 minutes walk to the left of the main road if you're facing the bay.

Surrounded by mountains and forests, delicious food, everything perfect. The eleventh star (if there is one) I would give the host and the best staff we have ever met. They do everything they can to help, they take care of genuine honesty and friendliness for their customers (the owner said he wanted guests to leave the resort comfortably, so he will do everything he can to make the tourists happy). We wanted to stay longer, but there was no time left.

The location is central to be picked up and dropped off for bus/cruise etc. For the price we paid, we don’t have any complaints. The room and facilities were very basic. we booked the Cat Ba-Hanoi bus with them “Go Easy” bus, the ride to Hanoi was very comfortable. It was a VIP bus with only 18people and didn’t have to get down or take luggage out at the ferry. It was a very smooth ride.

I was going to stay for 2 nights and I stayed 5. I also booked the tour with them for a very good price and it was very nice. Cát Bà is a very lovely island, with amazing beaches and lovely views and really deserves a visit.
