My room looked to have been recently refurbished to a very high standard. It was both quiet and comfortable. I ate in the hotel restaurant, and was please to see that depending on the occasion you could have very reasonably priced "pub" fare, or more gourmet dishes if you liked. Breakfast was cooked to order, and brilliant!!

On entering the Chequers we were greeted by friendly staff, who took us to the room and even offered to carry our luggage. The room was clean and bright, with a good sized bathroom, again clean and with everything supplied, nice white towels and toiletries. OK some of the place was a little dated but this is a country pub with a lot of history and this is only to be expected. It has character and is unique so unlike some of the corporate hotels, you don't wake up wondering where you are as all the rooms look the same.
The whole of the stay was great, as was the food. This was of good variety, quality and portions for the hearty appetite. The breakfast is fabulous and a perfect start to any day. The image is of my 10oz steak meal which was excellent quality and cooked to perfection.
We did have personal issues whilst staying there, totally of our own doing and nothing to do with the Chequers. Again the owner and other staff could not have been more helpful, to the extent of taking us to the station after our car broke down and was not able to be repaired. All in all a great experience despite our own issues.

I used to live here so only visiting family, unless you are here for the railway heritage there is not a lot to see in the town, but it is like most towns that we visit empty shops a sense of depreciation everywhere.

Darlington is a vibrant northern town with a big future. You only have to look at the developments at the train station, and the fact part of the treasury is relocating there. A bigger brighter future for darlo awaits.

It was beautiful with lots of interesting history & it's got beautiful grounds which would be beautiful in the summer so can't wait to plan another trip to The George in the summer time. The room was very clean & had everything we needed. The only negative I have is we had to ask about information about meals etc but the staff were more than helpful

Quiet town with plenty of shopping and restaurants. Local recreation and sightseeing, major train depot. I had good weather while I was there, nearly everything you need is within walking distance of most hotels.

The staff at 119 are just lovely, so friendly and helpful.
The staff at 119 are just lovely, so friendly and helpful. The boss is prepared to do anything to make your stay as comfortable as possible, he really is a top man! The facilities are faultless, everywhere is clean and tidy. The kitchen has tea and coffee facilities, and can be used whenever needed, (obviously taking other guests into consideration)
My partner and I have stayed here twice now and would not stay anywhere else, we have found somewhere that's comfortable friendly professional and above all else brilliant value for money.
We are back in January!
The hotel itself was pretty good and the stay was okay. The staff is pretty good. The guy at the bar is super super nice.
However coming from Japan, the facilities weren’t as good as they should have been.
1. No slippers available
2. No toothbrush/paste available (luckily I brought mine with me)
3. Broken elevator
4. In case of shower, the hot water wasn’t that hot and sometimes would come at all forcing me to take cold shower
The hotel however was super clean and the breakfast was nice as well.
I stay at the Dalesman whenever I'm in Darlington for a show at the Hippodrome. It's close to buses and trains, and also a short walk into the town centre. The rooms are always spotless, the beds comfortable, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I particularly like the fact that there is an easy key-drop check out for early risers. The pub also serves food at good prices, so handy for a quick bite to eat.
We chose this hotel for its location since we were visiting family in nearby Darlington, and we were really happy with this choice! It is fairly easily accessible but still very quiet - out in the country side, just what we were looking for. Our room was very spacious, as was the bathroom. To welcome us we found a sample of home-made biscuits in the room, and it was lovely and warm and cosy at all times.
The room was a nice size very spacious and clean and we had a comfortable stay there is a restaurant attached to the hotel ideal for a quiet drink but I didn't really rate the food. If you want to go into Darlington town centre you can catch a bus 2minute walk across the road there are buses every half hour ideal if you don't want to drive.
We have stayed there in the past and it is always good. This time through no fault of the hotel there was a power cut. No electricity from 4.30pm to 9.30pm. We would have eaten in the hotel but went elsewhere had to drive to Darlington. There was no recompense not even a free drink. A bit disappointing.
The hotel is beautiful.
The restaurant food is lovely although the menu is limited.
The pool and the jacuzzi were a wonderful treat, the staff in the leisure centre were polite and helpful.
We had a slight issue with noise from some neighbours and spoke to the manager, who was more than helpful.
Best hotel in Darlington, the cleaner was so friendly and lovely and the lady you checked us in made sure we were accommodated to at breakfast as we are vegan. Everyone had a positive attitude and this really makes a difference. Beautiful rooms - clean and so central!
This is a family run business. All the staff are friendly, attentive and very professional. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a hotel in Darlington to book a room here. I have stayed many times and rate it very highly
Nothing wen you have people living in there permanent from housing benefit it's not a hotel it is a hostel would like my money back we should of stayed 2 nights but left after 1st nite
The hotel was situated in the town centre but was a little difficult to find, There was nothing special about it compared with other Mercure Hotels. The stay and facility was adequate
Nice apartment in a good location for the centre of Darlington, with everything you need. Easy access and seamless booking process. Bathrobes a nice touch.
Space and facilities compared booking a hotel like Premier Inn. Comfortable beds and a very good over bath shower.
like the facility to park car securely.
