Set in Shirakawa, 150 metres from Shirakawago, GuestHouse Shirakawa-Go INN offers accommodation with a shared lounge and free private parking. I like the setting out of the hostel. It is simple, basic and nice. The hostel has a very nice pine wood smell. It is newly refurbished which can see the original stucture at the roof. Although the location is a distance from Shirakawa-go Station, the Ant Hut provides shuttle service twice a day which are at 8.30am to Station and 5.30pm from station which is ideal for overnight stay. Besides, a hida beef restaurant is nearby where can have dinner there. I found Ant Hut is a great place for young travellers because the washroom is downstairs and rooms are upstairs. Need to access using a steep staircase.

Only a 2-minute walk from JR Takayama Station, K's House Takayama Oasis offers free WiFi throughout the property. The staff is efficient and kind; the hostel has a lot of equipment and a big kitchen, it's clean and comfortable! There is everything you need. Bonus point: it's VERY very well located!

Sakura Guest House is a 10-minute walk from Hida Takayama-mura Folk Village, and offers private and dormitory rooms with free Wi-Fi and shared bathrooms. The house is super clean and the host is very nice and welcoming! The location is close to nature and i recommend renting bikes from the host it is super easy to get around like that in takayama I was in a women dorm and it felt very comfotable and the bed is personal with personal lamp and cover, plus lockers were outside the room I enjoyed the stay very much!

Featuring a shared lounge, Hostel Miyagawa by Murasaki Ryokan is located in the centre of Takayama, less than 1 km from Takayama Station. Awesome location right next to the Miyagawa river across from the morning market, nice traditional style Japanese room with tatami mats and futon mattresses, had a warm and welcoming lounge area with basic cooking amenities (fridge, hot water, dishes/utensils, etc) and even free teas with snacks. The staff were also very friendly and helpful, definitely a great place to stay if you're not that proficient in Japanese (some staff spoke fluent English). They offered free baggage storage even after checkout on the same day. I should also note that the place has just opened up this march of 2024 so all the utilities (showers, toilets, heaters, etc) are brand new and work excellently. The (very spacious) room came equipped with plenty of natural light from windows, adjustable warm/cold light, a gas heater, and the aforementioned futon/electric blankets. Easily the best hostel in Takayama and possibly all of Gifu prefecture, can't recommend it highly enough.

Boasting spacious hot spring baths for a fee, Natural Onsen Hostel Hidamari no Yu is hostel accommodation located in Takayama. The place is really good, and the onsen is very nice, The staff is very nice and helpful, There is not a close bus station but they provide shuttle to takayama station, We really enjoyed our stay!

Situated in Takayama, 2.1 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village, Tomato Takayama Station features views of the city. With free WiFi, this 2-star hostel offers a shared kitchen and a shared lounge. Everything was good. Nothing amazing, but no disappointments.
