Vatican Museums
The Vatican Museums are undoubtedly a must-visit. You’ll find these hallowed halls housed in the holy Vatican City. Perhaps that’s why the works here are of such a godly nature – expect true masterpieces (Ever heard of the Sistine Chapel?) and a beauty so supreme it can’t even be tainted by the crowds of trampling tourists.

I visited the Vatican Museum here, not the Vatican itself.
I visited the Vatican Museum here, not the Vatican itself.
The Museum has much incredible art, and I booked a walking tour. By the end of the tour (two hours later), I was understandably tired. Most of what I can remember consists of dusty, half-lit rooms, which didn't help. I was glad to get some fresh air.
Be aware that, being close to the Vatican and the Piazza S. Pietro, this neighbourhood is a magnet for junk sellers and scammers. Be extra careful here. The police will do nothing about them.

I've been several times before, but my husband had not, so we booked a group guided tour with Viator. I can say that the Catholic Church has RUINED the Vatican museum and the Sistine Chapel with their greed by shoving 25,000-45,000 people per DAY through there with very little time to see anything!! It was NEVER like this before and I'm appalled that it's become so disgustingly greedy to do this! Our tour started at 2:45 and it was SO crowded and SO rushed that we literally had 3 minutes in the Sistine Chapel, which is at the end of the tour, before the nasty guards literally turned all of the lights off and shoved us out the door!!! Can't miss your 5 pm espresso apparently!!! We were literally crowded shoulder to shoulder with others throughout a great deal of the museum and the chapel!!!

Book skip the line or a tour of the museums, Sistine Chapel and Basillica as one tour, if you book sistene chapel and basillica as a tour you do not have to wait in the huge security line for the Basillica (although it is free if you choose the latter) .

So much to take in, and quite a bit to be honest that has been taken from other countries!
You have to go to the Sistene Chapel of course, but its not that great.
Other ceilings in Rome are just as impressive.

It’s free every last Sunday (9:00-14:00) of the month, but not included the Sistine Chapel. You can visit it first and then go to the St. Peter’s Basilica. it’s free as well, you only need to pay for the dome and it’s worth to do so. You can see the whole Vatican City there. However, if you gonna paid for the museum, you better change the schedule to the St. Peter’s Basilica and the dome first. It will be very crowded after 10:30am.

The Vatican Museums 10 years ago were doable. Today - you are one of many sardines trying to see the same item. If you want to see them get yourself a private guide (make arrangements before you arrive in Rome) and let him set the agenda as to what to see in the Museums and at what time of day.

Very clean, extremely comfortable bed and pillows, best location close to bus stop and right next to Vatican museums.
Alex was the best. Easy communication and instructions to get to and inside property and also very quick to reply to any enquiry I had. Very professional.
Everything was fine, room was clean with balcony. Very good location, 5 mins by walk from Vatican close to entrance to vatican museums and close to metro station. Some cafes and restaurant in neighborhood, very calm and safe district of Rome.
Location. 5 mins to Vatican museums, 10 to St Peter’s. Lots of good restaurants in immediate area. Metro 5 minutes away.
Bed room big.
Quiet even with busy road outside.
The location is great especially if you plan on visiting the Vatican museums since its literally Infront the Vatican entrance! The staff was very friendly and the breakfast great!
The apartment is very close to a metro stop (about ten minute ride to city center), nice 24-hour supermarket (I’d recommend the back entrance at night), bakery, atm, and ten minute walk to Vatican museums. Property manager was quite responsive and welcoming. Good size bedrooms and layout with nice dining table, windows, window shades, dishwasher, fridge, and washing machine/dryer combo. Fully functioning kitchen with dish soap, dishwasher tabs, and equipment to cook meals.
Location was good for visiting Vatican museums and Saint Peter. A bit uphill, but for good walkers only 5-10’ from metro and 2-3’ from a taxi station.
The furnishings were nice and clean. There were mosquito nets and airco. The building quite characteristic
Perfect location, only 5 minutes walking to Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s basilica and 2-3 minutes walking to Line A Ottaviano metro station . Very easy check in, very kind and friendly staff ready to help you. Clean house, well maintained kitchen, lot of cafes and restaurants in the area. We would visit again !
Everything. Absolutely everything was more than perfect. The apartment is located a few meters from the Vatican Museums, near all means of transport, market in the immediate vicinity. The accommodation conditions are excellent, and Roberta extremely attentive to details and discreet.
We received the best recommendations from her and she helped us have a pleasant stay and wonderful memories.
If we get the chance, we will definitely come back.
Very good starting point to visit Rome. 11 minutes from Termini by public transport, then 500m walk. Bus station is only 150m from the hotel, Vatican Museums only 15 minutes walk. Wide and tasty continental breakfast. Cleaning every day, WiFi sufficient. Kind and helpful staff.
