Perfection! A beautiful remodel, everything in pristine condition. The decor is beautiful, tasteful and modern. Spectacular sunset view from the infinity pool/bar. Fresh breakfast with many hot and cold options. The gym is amazing! Brand new Technogym treadmills (3) and Technogym free weights and other equipment. A large, separate group fitness space for private stretching, etc. Cold water, towels and apples provided. And access to a balcony overlooking the pool and sea from the gym! Room service was fast, delicious and reasonably priced. I didn’t use the butler pantry (small snack and beverage self-service sales on each floor) but love the concept and convenience. Room decor was beautiful and bathroom amenities were high quality. Love the eco-conscious slippers and laundry bag. I had a Collection Room - Sea View which was a side view of the bay with sliding doors that opened wide, but no balcony. It was on a small side, which was perfect for just me. I wish I had upgraded to a room with a full balcony and/or full sea view at the front of the building, as I’m sure they have a spectacular sunset view. Would stay again without hesitation!

Located 200 metres from Karpinjan Beach, Palazzo Rainis Hotel & Spa - Small Luxury Hotel - Adults Only offers 4-star accommodation in Novigrad Istria and has a bar. This is a new hotel with a staff that is working very hard to make every guest feel welcome. We visited in the off season (late November) so we benefited from a terrific room rate that included an excellent spa (sauna and jacuzzi) and a superb breakfast. The hotel also has bicycles for guest use at no extra charge which we used for a lovely ride up the coastal bike path. All of our encounters with the staff were positive and friendly. The charming town of Novigrad is just across the harbor in east walking distance. The hotel is situated with view of the picturesque harbor and its numerous sailboats but sits just car enough off the road and the harbor to be very peaceful. The spa in the basement reminded us of an Austrian sport hotel; the sauna and jacuzzi were excellent plus it plays peaceful music and offers herbal teas to relax and cool down.

Romanttinen ja ystävällinen kaupunki. Vanhan kaupungin kapeat mukulakivikadut olivat viehättäviä ja kävelyreittien varrella olevilla penkeillä oli mukava istahtaa ihailemaan huikaisevan kauniita maisemia. Parhaita ruokapaikkoja olivat Veli Joze, Rio Bar, Pizzeria Da Sergio ja Kantinon. Oluen ystävien kannattaa poiketa Art Public irkkubaariin (torstaisin live musiikkia). Rovinjin vanhakaupunki voi olla hankala liikuntarajoitteiselle, mukulakivikadut on kapeita ja korkeuserot suuria.Kannattaa vuokrata auto, jolla pääseen kätevästi lähiympäristöön: Pula, Porec, Motovun, Groznjan... Parkkipaikkoja runsaasti kaupungin laidalla, tiet Istriassa hyväkuntoisia ja bensiinin hintataso suomalaista luokkaa.

Pula on sopivan kokoinen kaupunki, etäisyydet sopivat. Lentokenttä lähellä keskustaa ja meri joka puolella. Helppo lähteä autolla muualle Istriaan.

Parasta Pulassa oli se, että se oli oikea kaupunki - ei...
Parasta Pulassa oli se, että se oli oikea kaupunki - ei turistikylä. Turistikyläkin kyllä löytyi. Se sijaitsee Verudellassa, jossa on myös mukava akvaario sekä osa hienoista uimarannoista. Sinne pääsee kätevästi busseilla (2A ja 3A tätä kirjoittaessa). Lisää uimarantoja löytyy Stojan suunnalta, johon myös pääsee bussilla (1). Bussit maksoivat 11 kn (=kunaa) (11 kn = n. 1,5 eur) suunta. Stojasta voi kävellä rantaa pitkin kohti Verudellaa. Ainakin heinäkuun puolivälissä tällä välillä oli rauhallista ja saattoi löytää mukavan auringonotto- ja uintipaikan tasaisilta kallioilta. Pulan vanha kaupunki on mukava paikka, josta löytyy niin historiallista nähtävää kuin shoppailumahdollisuuksia sekä ravintoloita ja kahviloita. Must-paikka on tietysti Pulan areena, joka on vaikuttava näky ulkoakin, ellei halua maksaa 100 kn pääsymaksua. Ja vanhan kaupungin keskellä olevan kukkulan huipulla sijaitsevasta linnoituksesta on myös koettavissa historian havinaa sekä hienot näköalat. Kannattaa lisäksi kävellä kävelykatua vanhasta kaupungista Giardinin yli, ja löytää lisää kauppoja sekä tori. Kävelykadun päässä sijaitsee myös hyvä ravintola Kantina. Pulan on kolunnut läpi muutamassa päivässä, jonka jälkeen kannattaa suunnata muualle Istriaan tai jopa kauemmas. Lähikaupunkeihin voi ajaa bussillakin, mutta kauemmaksi pääsee helpoimmin auton vuokraamalla. Suurin osa kansainvälisistä autovuokraamoista sijaitsee lentokentällä tai Verudellassa - keskustassa on muutama paikallinen. Kaikkiaan oli näkemisen arvoinen paikka tämä Pula. Kun sen lisäksi kävi Rijekassa, Zagrebissa, Rovinjissa, Senjissa sekä monessa muussa paikassa, niin sai j jonkinlaisen kuvan Kroatiasta kokonaisuutena. Yhteensä ajoin 1000 km autolla. Split ja Dubrovnik jäivät silti vielä näkemättä, mutta ne taitavatkin olla turistirysiä nykyään ;-)

Viihtyisä vanha kaupunki.
Viihtyisä vanha kaupunki. Kaikki kävelymatkan päässä. Hyviä ja edullisia ravintoloita. Ikävää että palvelut eivät ulotu meren rantaan saakka. Todella ystävällisiä ihmisiä. Istriasta saa vielä enemmän irti jos on auto käytettävissä. Lähellä muita kyliä ja esim. Viini- ja oliivitiloja.

Vanha kaupunki on kiva ja näkemisen arvoinen, muutoin kyseessä on lähinnä satama- ja teollisuuskaupunki. Paremmat rannatkin löytyvät muualta Istriasta tai Kroatiasta. Mukava päiväreissun kohde mutta en suosittele pidempään oleskeluun.
