I was so enjoyed staying there and also the time to talk with the locals (but you may need to have some Japanese communication skill, or even you cannot, I am certainly sure that they will somehow communicate with you with their best). You must try Sento, the public available for free to their guest staying there.

Located a five minute walk from ‘Nara Park’ and the main shopping/dining streets, Hotel Asyl Nara is conveniently central. It's just steps away from the train station, convenient entrance on the 2nd floor. We arrived late night, speed check-in process, breakfast was great, staff friendly and helpful. This was the best hotel I've ever stayed in, the experience was amazing and the staff were incredibly attentive. If you want a Ryokan experience with a delicious traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner, plus onsen. Then do yourself a favour and treat yourself to Mikasa, it was truly the best part of our trip in Japan. I highly recommend paying the extra bit to get a room with the private onsen bath it was heavenly.

One of the best place we stay at. The services provided by the hotel, and the very nice hotel staff were top notch. The in room private onsen, and the public one was excellent. We stayed in a Japanese style room, love all the detail of the corridor and the style. We especially enjoy the half board meals provided. I recommend anyone stay there to get it. I’ll definitely come back again if I’m visiting Nara again. Hotel is located very close to the train station and buses are easy walk to.

This was by far our favorite hotel we stayed at during our trip in Japan. The place is located next to a kofun which makes the area so peaceful and quiet. At night you could hear the crickets and cicadas while being in your private hot tub in your private little garden. The room was very, very spacious, beautifully decorated. I wish we had planned more days in Nara, so we could spend more time in this little oasis.

I stayed in the old bulding and had the pleasure to listen to waterfall and frog sounds from the nearby river all night. Very soothing. The place has a great retro atmosphere, clean and nice onsen and great food. On top of that, when I inquired about public buses to Koyasan from near villages, I was told by the receptionist he will take me there the next morning via car. Free of charge. What a service!
