Natasha was an angel.Her staff were friendly and helpful. Her rooms were huge, airy, clean, and comfortable. The balcony was a great place for watching the sunset. Breakfast consisted of lots of fruit, eggs, toast, and delicious rice pancakes. Natasha went out of her way to help organize our journey back to Leon. ❤️

La Mariola - Finca Agroecológica er staðsett í El Castillo de La Concepción á Rio San Juan-svæðinu og er með verönd og útsýni yfir ána. Gistirýmið er með garðútsýni og svalir. The cabin is super beautiful, the view over the river is amazing. You can listen to and observe a lot of birds, including colibris, and enjoy the peaceful nature. Saul is a super attentive host. He provided us with a lot of helpful information on options for tours in the area and how to get to the place from San Carlos and even organized our transport to the cabin from the port of El Castillo. So our tour of Indio-Maiz was all organized before our arrival and turned out great. The adjacent farm is super cool as well, he gave us a little tour for free explaining how he keeps the bees and showed us the cacao plants and more. The project of building an organic agroforest in this area is super interesting.

Guacimo smáhýsi er staðsett á 40 hektara landsvæði með frumskógi, nálægt El Castillo og Indio Maiz-lífhvolfsfriðlandinu. We had an excellent stay in Guacimo. The place itself is beautiful and the facilities were excellent, however it was the staff and excursions that made the trip so special. Manuel had been so helpful corresponding with us before the stay about the logistics of arriving at Guacimo. Our boat from San Carlos was full by the time we arrived and so Guacimo helped by sending their boat to collect us, without which we'd have been stuck for the night in San Carlos. They helped us arrange to see everything that we wanted to whilst there and gave us some great advice on where to go in Nicaragua after our stay at Guacimo. Gustavo was a brilliant guide and taught us so much about the local history & wildlife. Franklin was there to help with any and all queries we had and was great with helping us arrange our onward journey and Margarita cooked us the most wonderful food!

Hostal Don Frank er staðsett í San Carlos og býður upp á gistirými, spilavíti og útsýni yfir ána. We stayed for two nights, once after arriving on the bus from Managua and then again when returning on the boat from El Castillo. It is in the perfect location for the bus terminal and boat port (2 minute walk). The rooms are basic but clean. Great value for money.

A great place to stay! A lovely old house, clean, comfortable and on a quiet street close to the centre for the bus and boats. The owners are extremely kind people, I needed to change my dates twice due to a chane of plans and then unforseen circumstances and they were very generous and understanding. I booked and stayed here both times I was in San Carlos. Overall, fantastic value and would absolutely recommend a stay here!

Hotel Heliconia Los Chiles er staðsett í Los Chiles. Þetta 3 stjörnu hótel er með garð og loftkæld herbergi með sérbaðherbergi. The staff was awesome, super friendly and accommodating. Modest and comfortable rooms. Good wifi. We were there before heading on to Nicaragua. The owner was very helpful to make sure we had what we needed before leaving. Very nice Costa Rica typical breakfast. Great location a couple blocks off the highway from the big stores/bus station. 4 or so blocks from the river park and bank. Los Chiles is also a pretty quiet town, which was nice. The river front park is new too and nice for our kids. We will definitely stay there again next time we are coming through the area.

We spent 2 weeks at the Posada Oasis and truly enjoyed every second of it. Absolutely marvelous place, a true idyllic Oasis. Located in a beautiful huge garden, full of splendid flowers, fruit trees and tropical plants. Our hosts, Alba and Oscar, were simply wonderful. They kept showing us interesting animals and plants in the garden, treated to some delicious local fruit and even invited us to plant 2 trees :) We had some nice interesting talks with both of them, they were very helpful, considerate and caring at all times, from the moment we arrived till seeing us off to the bus. Thank you so much for everything!!!± Their daughter Carla, sons and grandsons helped around the property too and were always extremely accommodating and nice. There was a perfect balance of providing guests with privacy and being close enough at all times to assist if needed. A local shop is around 10 minutes walk. We cooked our meals in a lovely shared outdoor kitchen, very well equipped. Strong 2 fans in the room, very comfortable bed, nice bathroom with big shower. Regular housekeeping. Amazing hammock on each porch, I could spend hours in there, just chilling and admiring the beautiful garden and numerous hummingbirds and butterflies. Lack of multiple lights = wonderful night sky, we saw Milky Way and ridiculous amount of stars.

Hotel de Campo er staðsett í Caño Negro-náttúrufriðlandinu í Alajuela og býður upp á útisundlaug og veitingastað. Ókeypis WiFi er í boði á ákveðnum svæðum. Öll herbergin eru með loftkælingu. The host was super nice, helpful and a great cook! The rooms are confortable, located in lush greenery. The host organized an early morning boat tour at our request which is well worth it. I recommend it.

Great accommodation in Cano Negro. Family who run it is really nice and helpful, there were no problem with anything. The accommodation is really nice, it sits in a large garden which is connected to small lagoon. It is clean, has coffee maker (which is important for me:). Next to the Poponjoche is restaurante Fogon, which has the best meal I ate during our month in Costa Rica. We are birdwatchers so wanted to take the tour on lagoons. We did our search in the village and than decided to take son of owner of Poponjoche as guide since he can speak english. His father who is good bird guide went also with us. We were happy we choose them. Beware, there is NO BUS from Cano Negro to Upala or Los Chiles on Sunday!!! And taxi can get really expensive on this day.
