The staff was incredibly nice and accommodating. Went out of there way to help me, including accommodating my vegan diet for breakfast (even though I didn't ask, they asked me) and walked with me to show me an money exchange place with great rates. The grounds are well kept with lots of plants. The room was clean, beds soft, hot showers, and the AC worked well. There is a microwave to heat food down stairs. Is a short 5 to 7 minute walk from the city center. I plan to stay here again and would recommend it!

Located in the Amazon rainforest, this hotel features tours to the jungle, a massage spa overlooking the Madre de Dios forest and rooms with hammocks and balconies. Everything! A magical hotel located in a magical place. The service was impeccable and everything is just so seamless, from the moment you arrive to your departure (they even printed our boarding cards without us asking and assisted our group to the airport in case there are any issues). The tours are excellent, food is delicious and our river lodge felt incredibly relaxing. We stayed for 3 nights, but I could easily stay a week! We were undecided between a cruise on the Amazon river and staying here, and so glad we chose Inkaterra. Seriously the best hotel I've been to, and I travel a lot.

After 8 weeks in Peru (Cusco, Titicaca and Arequipa), I loved PM. Its a gold rush town that is sort of grungy, but more than any other place I visited in Peru, I felt like it was authentic and actually has a soul. There aren't many tourists walking around in town and the locals aren't in your face pretending to be your best friend and trying to sell you something. I found most people a bit shy and reserved, but not at all unfriendly. I spent a couple of days wandering around and really enjoyed myself. My purpose for visiting was to do do one of those eco amazon tours. I found the whole eco-tourism experience totally concocted and a huge waste of money, so it was a bit of a relief to see an authentic side of Peru. I'm not sure I would visit PM just as a destination on its own, but since I was there already, its definitely worth a couple of days. While I was there, the city had its annual birthday parade; all the school children and school band marched through the city to the main square. Each band played its own rendition of Happy Birthday and For He's a Jolly Good Fellow.....it was awesome! Make sure and walk out on the bridge over the Rio Madre de Dios at sunset, it is magic. Also, don't miss the mercado on Calle Ica and Ernesto Rivero, great place for local food and produce you can buy big bags fresh Brazil nuts.
The rainforest was extremely interesting but I probably shouldn't have come in December/January, which is the rainforest (I know; the clue is in the name). Except in the grounds of the lodge where I stayed it was difficult to spot much wildlife and the guides said it was because it was the wrong time of the year. I wanted to see - amongst other things - the macaws at the clay lick but it wasn't possible because they don't come when it's raining. Also, when it rains it absolutely chucks it down for a couple of hours, during which time there's not a lot you can do. And if you are in a lodge with shared bathroom and need the bathroom during that time, you're going to get very wet! This sounds like a negative review but it's not all negative. The scenery (when they sun's out, which is for most of the day) is beautiful, especially along the rivers. Food is good. I loved kayaking on the Madre de Dios, the canopy walk in the jungle (until it started raining), seeing birds and butterflies, playing with monkeys in the grounds of my lodge ... In short, do pay Puerto Maldonado a visit but try to avoid the wet season and you're likely to get more out of your visit.
I only spent one day in Puerto Maldonado though I spent a couple of days in an eco lodge on the river Madre De Dios and that was wonderful
Very clean and with a fantastic view of the Madre de Dios river. We wanted to stay an extra night but there were no rooms available. Still, the owner gave us some options to enjoy the day at the hotel and use the pool after our check-out.
room was comfortable and a good value
Everything! Percy made our stay even better!, thanks to all the Staff and the Guides( apollo and Deno especially)🙂
We loved everything! Lodge and rooms, hosts, food, tour guide, transport were all brilliant! A fantastic once-in-a-lifetime trip that was well organized and good value for money. So cool to see the good they're doing at the rescue center too! You can really feel the love for the Amazon here.
The staff were great and super friendly. The rooms were cleaned every day and the balcony had an amazing view. The room had air con which kept it a nice temperature at night. The shower was brilliant. The restaurant: we tried the salad, the amazonian fish and the pork spaghetti and all were fantastic. The breakfast fruit bowls were the highlight though, aside from the cocktails. A day by the pool was heaven with music, drinks and beautiful sunshine. There were birds, boas and sloths. I didn't want to leave.
Wasai Lodge completely exceeded our expectations on every level. The staff were so kind and friendly, the rooms were fabulous right on the river with very comfortable beds. Food was amazing with a huge amount of variety. Our guide, Efrain, was so knowledgeable, engaging, funny and made our trip even more fantastic - he was born to be an Amazon tour guide!! Clem who runs the lodge was so friendly and helpful throughout our stay and was always on hand to answer questions. We felt very safe during our stay. This is an amazing lodge and would highly recommend it!
The staff was incredible. Very Friendly and attentive. The hotel was very clean considering that you are in the middle of a jungle. All the excursions were very well organzied with knowledgeable staff.
The food was delicious and fresh. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Our guide Jari was incredible and really made our experience the best. He was so knowledgeable, kind and patient with our group. You can tell he is passionate about what he does and that energy is really infectious. We had an amazing time and would recommend this place to anyone traveling to the rainforest.
Everything! Anthony is really nice with his guests, he takes care of everything. The room we got was a King room and it was perfect! We went on two tours with the tourist operator they work with and we had a blast! We also have to give a big compliment to the resort’s chef, the food was excellent! We had all the meals right at the resort and we would do the same again! Also we were able to use the pool, which was really nice.
Excellent guides, brilliant opportunities to witness nature, variety of activities, interesting lectures every evening.
Really comfy clean room, bathroom has hot showers and breakfast is great
Our tour guide, Charles, was excellent. We learned so many things about the Amazon.
Beautiful property in the middle of the jungle. We looked at several other lodges but picked this one for it's more modern amenities. This is an all inclusive lodge. Rooms are screened in (not all lodges are) with 5500 acres to themselves. The cost includes daily excursions around the many trails that they created for the guests leisure. The trails take you in to the depth of the jungle while experiencing the beauty that it offers - monkeys, birds, tarantulas, snakes etc. Guilds were extremely knowledgeable and kind. always on the lookout for things to see. Things to consider - bug spray - the local ones work better than the US ones that we brought. Clothing - while hiking - long airy pants and quick dry long (or short) shirts will make your hike more enjoyable. I brought 2 but I wish I had 4-5. Best room is called "Tarzan". We stayed in "Tucan" which was OK but close to other visitors. Hard to describe but you can hear anyone in proximity to your room since it is all screened in. Staff was SUPER hard working. They were on their feet from 4 am to 10 pm daily. I have to tip my hand to these folks, simply incredible! 10 thumbs up for the staff
Everything was as advertised. We got an airport shuttle in both directions and he was always on time. Breakfast was delicious -- better than any continental breakfast I have had at a hotel in the USA. It comes out buffet style and isn't under warmers, which others have complained about but I thought it was fine. The pool and restaurant are both on the 7th floor and they're lovely; I highly recommend getting a meal at the restaurant and eating it at one of the tables by the pool that overlooks the city. I really don't know the area, so I can't say if it is in a good location or not, but I always felt safe enough for someone traveling internationally.
