The bungalow in which we stood had the most beautiful view I've ever seen. Mike and his family did our best to feel well received. The food was delicious. When you come here, you have to expect a genuine experience and a living in the jungle. You must really be lovers of nature. Mike has organized a beautiful trip at a reasonable price to Port Resolution, white sand beach and to the volcano Yassur. You can reach a short 10-minute walk to the river and about 30 minutes to the volcanic ash field. The road is easy and very beautiful. We felt all the time safe. It is the best accommodation if you want to sleep close to the volcano. We would like to go back. Thank you Mike!

Rockwater Resort is an absolute diamond find! The attention to detail in everything from the guest interactions, the room, the food and the resort itself. I spent three days in this gorgeous place, not only doing the Tanna Island top sights (Mt Yasur volcano, Blue Cave, traditional village tour and the Giant Banyan tree), but simply spending time around the resort by the pool with a book or snorkelling off the front cliffs. Silvana and John are absolutely beautiful hosts with their care and attention for the experience of your own and other guests with the island and Vanuatu as a whole.

We fell in love with this place.

The hospitality of Philip, Susan and their sons was absolutely incredible. They were so gracious with their time without being over bearing on your privacy. This is the spot to stay when checking out the volcano side of Tanna. You will have everything you need to see the vanuatu culture from the perfect location. For reasonable rates, the hosts will take care of any other logistic you need. -Set up the 2 hour car ride to and from the airport. -Local recipe dinners by Susan and she’s a great cook. I believe they offered lunch as well but I was going on these great adventures they offer to guide you through: -A local village that will show you dances and rituals of their indigenous culture -A hot spring heated river that flows into the ocean overlooking the volcano -And of course, the hike to the rim of the volcano. I had so much time to chat with the family and they are all so kind. I don’t leave reviews, I was very compelled on this one. Stay in this treehouse. Friendly reminder to grab cash and break it down in Port Vila or at the market in Tanna.

As we were travelling on a budget and keen to meet the locals Alofa Beach bungalows was the perfect balance of comfort and friendly hospitality. Simple, relaxing and authentic looking bungalows with ensuite, running water and hot showers. The host were lovely and ready to help with whatever we needed. The food was nice. Pancakes for breakfast :) The bungalows are near a long stretch of coral strewn beach typical of Vanuatu and close to the local village. Perfect alternative to the resorts if you're after a more authentic experience.
