Air-conditioned rooms feature a tatami (woven-straw) floor, on which traditional futon bedding is spread to sleep in. Amenities include an LCD TV, fridge, a safe and yukata robes. All rooms have a private toilet and washbasin, while bathroom facilities are shared. Green tea sets with snacks are provided. The breakfast and dinner was a highlight of my trip, they consisted of a variety of courses selected by the hotel (but they messaged me before my stay to check if there was anything that I wouldn't be able to eat and we're able to work around that) it was a great way to experience a wide variety of different japanese food I mightn't have come across otherwise. Stayed two nights and dinner and breakfast were different both days. Also there was usually something that you got to cook at the table and the staff were very helpful in showing how to do this. When I arrived the girl who checked me in realised that i would be too tall for the size of yukata that they usually left in the room so provided me with a more suitable size before I even had to ask. Bus from both hakone Yumoto and odawara station stops directly outside the hotel. The outdoor baths.

+ Loved the room, which featured tatami flooring, amenities and the provision of a yukata, obi and hanten (which I wore at breakfast). + Excellent and friendly service by all the staff, some of whom speak good English. + Delicious dinner and breakfast. + A relaxing private onsen (very much worth the additional cost). + Location is somewhat further out, but it worked for me since it was a bus away from Gotemba Station (which I could use the Hakone Freepass for).
A true ryokan experience with the very spacious tatami rooms, relaxing onsen and the traditional japanese dinner and breakfast. Great base for hiking trips.
It’s a little tired but authentic. Love the experience of traditional Ryokan. It’s so special when the staffs come and prepare a spread of dinner table in your tatami room and then after the dinner they turn the room into a bed room by bringing out Futon. The quality of Onsen water is fantastic. The staffs are very friendly and welcoming.
Staying in a traditional ryokan was a treat. We really enjoyed the rooms, with tatami mats and windows overlooking beautiful greenery. The futons were really comfortable and our room had its own onsen, which was fabulous. The evening meals were extraordinary. Beautifully presented, with numerous delicious dishes. If anything there was too much food. The breakfast too was very lavish.
The staff has been very welcoming and attended to all our needs. The private onsen is worth a visit and the privacy was much appreciated. Futons were some of the best ones we've experienced on our trip. Room size was more than adequate and the interior (tatamis, bathroom, seating arrangement) on point. The provided Yukatas were decent. The hotel's location is a good base to explore Mt Fuji, the botanical gardens (pref. late spring), local hikes and the temple close by (look for the buddha statues).
We had such a fantastic experience during our stay at Ajisai and loved walking around in the supplied Yukatas! We really enjoyed the private onsen which we definitely made use of with our family, and the futon bed was extremely comfortable. Just note that it is a fair walk (especially if you have luggage), so best to take a taxi from Gora Station to get to the Ryokan.
Beautiful Japanese ryokan in a magical setting. The multi-course kaseiki dinner and traditional breakfast were superb, with all the dishes impeccably presented and absolutely delicious. Our lovely hostess, Kyoko, graciously served us and patiently explained every dish using goggle translate. The onsens had great district views and we emerged from the hot spring water feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. We would love to come back here again!
Amazing facilities. You get to experience a lot as you get complementary yukatas and access to an amazing onsen. The rooms are very well furnished and the tatami mats and futons are a must experience
The traditional Ryokan was what we searched for and we were happy to receive the full experience with yukata's and futons. We had a personal toilet for the room (not in the room itself but we expected a shared one) And we were lucky with the onsens as we could use them both times by ourselves. The food was delicious and a good introduction to traditional Japanese food
A very traditional Japanese inn (ryokan). The outdoor hot spring (onsen) is fabulous. The food quality in the restaurant is very high at this price range. The staff is very friendly and they can speak English well.
