Japanese-style rooms have a tatami (woven-straw) floor and traditional futon bedding, while Western rooms come with beds and an en suite bathroom. All rooms are air-conditioned and fitted with an LCD TV and a fridge. This was a great experience in Japanese style and hospitality and we enjoyed it a lot. Needless to repeat what everybody says, the breakfast is great. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to stay for another night and treat us to a dinner.

Dewa Shrine is located an 8-minute walk away. Free WiFi is available in all areas. We loved the beautiful Ryokan, the marvelous Food for breakfast and dinner and the friendly hosts. Thanks for a wonderful stay. It was my second time at Dewa San San and I can highly recommend Tamonkan.

The wooden structure of the property portrays a traditional Japanese-style accommodation. Free Wi-Fi is available at the lobby. Very nice, traditional experience! We were very surprised with the diversity of the breakfast. If you want to experience a proper Japanese breakfast, here is one place where you can do that very well. The onsen was very pleasant too, but you might need to get accustomed to the temperature. All in all we had a very pleasant stay here and we can definitely recommend! Thanks a lot :)

Luggage storage service is available at the front desk and a gift shop and drinks vending machines can also be found on site. Absolute attention to every detail. We travelled from Kyoto all the way to Shikitei because we hoped it would be a memorable experience in a traditional Ryokan. It did not disappoint. Every staff member was extremely helpful, the food was outstanding, the room was spotless and our private open air onsen was to die for. They were also very accommodating for our one year old son, providing toys, baby yukata, and a variety of meals. Shikitei was the highlight of our 17 day trip to Japan.

Mizusawa-Esashi Station is 22 km away and Mizusawa Station is 22 km from the ryokan. I didn't take the breakfast, so I can't comment on it. Location was good for me since I wanted to walk everyday.

With garden views, this accommodation provides a balcony. The ryokan features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. This was the most elegant and restful stay of my life. Food is incredible - deserves a bib gourmand! Rooms are large and comfortable with a view. Onsen is lovely. The best is the free alcohol and hot drink service in the evenings around the fireplace. Definitely stay here if you can! It’s once in a lifetime type stuff
